evil women I'm totally being sarcastic idiocy oppressed men reddit sex

New form of anti-male oppression discovered: Women’s magazines in checkout lines!

Yeah, I know you've all seen this one before, but, come on! It's funny!

Over on Reddit’s Men’s Rights subreddit, cheester warns all of us dudes about an especially insidious form of anti-male oppression: the racks of women’s magazines that lurk near the checkout counters of grocery stores everywhere!

can I get some feedback on womens magazines at the grocery checkout? Every issue states “new tricks he doesn’t know in bed” and shite like that. It’s obvious porn for the gals but why is it so accepted by everyone that it has carte blanche to be within a two foot reach as I pay for my food? If a magazine for men had on the cover: “20 Ways To Make Her Squirm Like A Fish”….there would be a national outrage.

Yeah, it’s not like Men’s magazines ever run anything like that.

Church groups and womens rights would say it demoralizes women and have the publication banned or put behind censored racks in seedy smoke shops.

Yeah. It’s not like this ever happens to women’s magazines.

But the womens mags are right there as a last shop item in the flourescent lit, sterilized, family atmosphere where every mother parades her toddlers and kids right past the 3 letter word in big black block letters;SEX on the cover of every flashy colored womens mag that comes out each month.

Not only is this oppression of men, it’s oppression of all toddlers who can read and know what the word “sex” means.

Also, feminists have never criticized women’s magazines in any way. “Ten Ways to Make Him Squirm” articles are the distilled essence of feminism! And most of them are written by the ghost of Andrea Dworkin.

NOTE:  Does this even need a “sarcasm” tag?

Well, this one really puzzles me. The joke I like to tell about men’s magazines and women’s magazines is that women’s magazines are all about pleasing men (dressing for them, losing weight for them, getting in shape for them, giving better blowjobs, etc) and men’s magazines are all about…pleasing men (getting women to sleep with you).

Women’s magazines are terrible for women for a long laundry list of reasons…I should think MRA’s and the like would cheer their existence.

I’m continually amused by the new and interesting ways that MRAs come up with to misunderstand how female sexuality works. First NWO informs us that sex for women consists of being attractive to men via sexy clothes, and now apparently reading about ways to give better blowjobs is porn (but only for women).

Even Cracked.com criticized women’s magazines and they are…well what they are.

I think of the entire post I’m most annoyed by the thing where mothers “parade” their kids around the supermarket, as if it were a purely vanity activity for them.

That cover is a weird combination of funny and offensive. “The tone your butt” one get’s my goat. Is it really that hard for people to realize the difference between appreciating a woman’s butt, and objectifying them?

But remember, if Brandon is any guide, mothering is not really work. Showing your underage child porn is.

It doesn’t need the sarcasm tag but it would be pretty funny if it did.

One thing I’ve noticed about these things: at the supermarket, these (mostly women’s) magazines seem to be kept at adult viewing height, whereas in, say, the 7-11 I frequent, there are both more men’s magazines like (maxim etc.) depicting scantily clad and highly sexualized women and they are generally kept closer to the ground near where the delicate childrenz can see.
I’m not sure how this observation compares with the situation across Texas or even the rest of the US, though.

I think the MRAs are running out of fresh material.

impossible. when your central premise is that the whole world is out to get you, everything is fresh material.

Cats oppress men cos they like women better!!!

Today I tried to sell some old computer parts on Craigslist and the person who claimed they’d be picking them up didn’t show. And that person… was a woman!!!!!

More evil gynocracy. Feminism has taught women to be so entitled that they don’t even follow through on their electronics-scavenging commitments!

Wow, I could do this all day.

I’m no expert here, but just looking at the covers, doesn’t it seem that a lot of narcissistic selfishness is being celebrated in womagazines? One notices that there is little about e.g. cooking, sewing, babycare (this is beginning to change, apparantly), although there is not yet enough dedicated to emphasising the impossibility of unwed or divorced motherhood for single women with children, and the importance of keeping the father of the child(ren) in the marriage (or partnership) at all costs!

Sex is overemphasized, in my opinion; it may be a dessert on the marriage, but need not the ‘main course”. A great deal could be improved by emphasizing the domestic and familial aspects of being a woman, and less overt sex. If the articles emphasized the imporance of recognising the man as “head of the house” so much the better, although I should think that his ladylove would already be inclined in that direction. If she was taught how to please her man in ways outside, as well as within the bedroom, maybe some of the DV modern women complain about would never happen.

On the other hand, if DV, rape, sex assault, child abuse, out-of-wedlock births, and similar pathologies were rare or absent in families of successful men, happy women, and healthy and thriving children, what would feminists do?? They could only hang around their Ms Magazine, infest Congress and State Legislatures, and also “gender studies” offices in universities looking and sounding stupid!

There is always time for a perfect woman to enjoy sex and her G-d-given femininity without “pushing” it in any way!

I am suggesting, in short, that there be less “Cosmopolitan”, “Elle”. or “Glamor” and somewhat more “Ladie’s Home Journal” or “Redbook”, at least as they may have been c.1950. If after that, She wants to share a little “Fredrick’s of Hollywood” or “Victoria’s Secret” with her nearest and dearest, certainly no harm done!

TV for women could also be improved! Less Dr.Phil, Jerry Springer or Oprah, and more celebrating successful homes and families like what we used to see in the “700 Club” with Pat Robertson (before the good Reverend left the Ministry, entered politics and became a candidate for the Stupid Party). Oral Roberts and Jerry Falwell also had good TV for women in their time, although again, they too were polluted by politics by the early ’80s, about the same time, ironically enough, that feminism started to really get a deathgrip on American women! At any rate, women deserve to see the good parts of modern life, not just the view from overflowing garbage cans like shows featuring “domestic violence, drug addiction, divorce, child abuse and homosexuality, drunkenness, and so on. Leave that kind of sewage for the tabloids, and perhaps for labotomyvision…

There IS room for improvement in women’s periodicals. However, imitating men’s journals is not the answer.

Whatever, Meller.

I like Holly’s monthly takedown of Cosmo. The mags are ridiculous, and I think only the very young take it anywhere near seriously. Since they are outgrown, that’s why Cosmo et al don’t change all that much.

These guys go out of their way to get upset about something, anything, don’t they?

I’m starting to think DKM isn’t actually a misogynist in the typical MRA sense, but simply a living doll fetishist with very poor boundaries. Just like some foot fetishists can go overboard and start with the “every woman should wear sandals and nail polish everywhere!”, he’s simply gone horrifically overboard with his fantasy of living in a world of painted porcelain lady lovelies with quiet smiles and frilly aprons.

I don’t think it’s an either or proposition; I’m fairly certain the Mellertoad is both. It is strange, however, to see so much backward pontificating about the proper nature of women and the importance -or lack thereof- of sex within a monogamous relationship from someone who is clearly not interested in having sex with living, human women.

Yes, because “Heat up glazed donut, use it to jerk off man”, “Use your thong as a ponytail holder![as if i don’t always have an elastic on me]”, and “Ice cubes and hot wax EVERYWHERE” are totes porn for women.

Know what is porn for women?

PORN. (Yes, in my porn, people fuck.)

Also, I haven’t taken Cosmo seriously since I was probably 14. I started to question it around the time I was 15/16 or so(What guy is going to do THIS MUCH to grab my attention?), and then by the time I decided feminism was for me (circa 18 or 19), I stopped paying attention other than to lol at it.

There’s no doubt that Meller has a poor sense of boundaries. I think it’s both rather than either/or though, or rather poor sense of boundaries + MRA rhetoric + male sense of entitlement = all women should be more like Madame Alexander dolls because that’s what I, a DKM, want.

I like Holly’s monthly takedown of Cosmo.

Seconded. I looooove Cosmocking.

This is entirely possible. He’s also evidently someone who hasn’t spent much time looking at the magazines in an airport or a big bookstore. Meller, they publish magazines on nearly every topic, for nearly every niche. If a woman (or a man) wishes to learn about needlepoint or childrearing or raising chickens, there’s a magazine on that subject readily available for purchase.

On the other hand, you seem to be misinformed about everything, and I’d rather read your laughably wrong thoughts on the state of modern magazines than your depressingly wrong thoughts about DV and causes thereof. If you want to sound off about trivial things you know nothing about, have at it, I guess.

Victim blaming. How original.

Meller, there are books about pregnancy, magazines about weddings, home decor, cooking etc etc etc. If there wasn’t a market for them, they wouldn’t exist.

There are no rules or regulations to relationships as long as you don’t kill each other. If two people get along, their relationship will work. Simple.
