Good news, everyone! The good folks on the RedditorOfTheDay subreddit picked our friend AnnArchist to be Redditor of the Day yesterday. He filled out a little questionnaire for the RedditorOfTheDay folks listing all sorts of fun facts about himself.
In addition to moderating the Men’s Rights subreddit and posting hilarious videos of women getting beaten up to the beatingwomen subreddit, AnnArchist (who is a dude, despite the name) also enjoys: Skyrim, bass fishing, sports talk radio, chicken tacos, and football!
His biggest pet peeve:
People who want to interfere with other people’s happiness.
His biggest worry about Reddit?
I just hope the community doesn’t grow so quickly that we lose the quality debate and discussion that has kept many of the users around reddit for a long time.
Over on ShitRedditSays, fxexular has helpfully catalogued some of AnnArchist’s contribution to the “quality debate and discussion.” Like his considered opinion on one female judge:
I hope someone kills her.
And his opinion of an alleged false rape accuser:
I hope she was harassed. Fuck I hope her house was firebombed. Lets be clear, I really will applaud anyone who does anything to her, be it slash her tires or slash her throat.
You can find even more of these charming nuggets in my post about him here.
In his answers to the RedditorOfTheDay questionnaire, AnnArchist reveals himself to be a truly sensitive soul. Here, he shares a painful moment from his past:
When I was a senior in HS and when my friend and I saw … the plane fly into the twin towers our first reaction was laughter rather than OMG thats a tragedy. Yea, we’re fucked up. I TPed my High School that night. I’m a horrible person.
Oh, and did I mention that he’s the creator, sole moderator, and basically the only contributor to the NSFW4 subreddit, devoted to posting pictures and videos too horrific and offensive to post anywhere else on Reddit?
Godspeed, AnnArchist! Thank you for making the world a better place!
NOTE: This post is almost entirely made up of sarcasm.
Holy shit, 90% of the comments on that “Redditor of the Day” post are [deleted].
Apparently they’re deleting anything that makes mention of… well, of anything he’s said or done more controversial than “I have a doggie named Champ!”
Oh God, his favorite movies are American Psycho and Idiocracy? That’s too fucking perfect. A “chopping up women” movie and a “the genetically inferior are breeding too much, perhaps we should put them in some sort of camps” movie.
Wow, that is perfect. I’ll bet he thinks Family Guy is too feminist, and his bucket list includes “try to curbstomp someone” too.
Okay, I don’t know any of the Reddit people at all, but is catrolean as much of a giant tool usually as she appears in that thread? :p
And he’s probably one of those dumbass dudebros who doesn’t understand that American Psycho (particularly the movie version) was making a comment on the vacuous nature of American consumerism as well as masculinity. It really is just a “chopping up women” movie to him. And Fight Club is just a “beating people up” movie.
Did anyone point out to him that killing, harassing, and firebombing people tends to interfere with their happiness?
Oh wait, sorry, I misread. Those were women he wants to do that to, not actual people.
Sigh.
Okay, who wants to tell him who Christian Bale’s stepmom is, and blow his mind?
…Or that Mary Harron’s previous film was I Shot Anthony Warhol, about the life and times of guess who?
–The director of American Psycho.
-The director of American Psycho.
I hated idiocracy too, holly, that film is unapologetically pro-eugenicist (and racist and classist as well).
American Psycho is a brilliant film.
American Psycho is one of my favorite films. Too bad for idiots like this tainting it.
Also, chicken tacos are delicious. Damn you, AnnArchist, for spoiling them too!
American Psycho was a crap movie made by a feminist bitch who mutilated a far more profound and intellectually stimulating book.
Oh hell the what, Reddit, even for you!
(Also, American Psycho the film is brilliant. The book is tripe)
” I’m a horrible person.”
Well someone had to say it.
Chance that MRAL has actually read the book and is not just trolling: 0.00000001%
I enjoy both the book and the film, but MRAL’s analysis of the book-to-film translation is so wrong it’s not even amusing.
Hey, MRAL, you know the only thing the author disapproved of about the film adaptation was Bateman dancing in the “Hip to be Square” scene, right? Yeah. Dancing. Clearly a feminist art form.
MRAL, are you just fucking with us now?
The book is “luxury brand name, luxury brand name, drug use, luxury brand name, luxury brand name, random mutilation of random victim, luxury brand name, the end.”
I guess it’s sort of a satire, but it’s a leaden one, and God it’s just a slog to get through. What part of your intellect is stimulated by 300 pages of “I was wearing Armani I killed a homeless guy then I changed into Gucci?”
FWIW, apparently the Redditor of the Day moderators didn’t didn’t really research AnnArchist, and at least one of them has said it was a big mistake.
I’m with Holly, only I think she liked it more than me.
Personally I enjoyed Idiocracy. When I think of Idiocracy I interpret the characters as representing people like Ann Archist. With much less misogyny and hatred though. They are a big part of the reason why the US and the rest of the west is going down the toilet because their entire being is made up of hating women and minorities and undermining every step taken to eliminate discrimination and fix the power imbalance. At least the type of idiocy in Idiocracy is more innocent. Also to me it also represents how people seem to be getting dumber due to lack of education and too much consumerism and pop culture. I haven’t seen the movie in awhile though. Dunno how you guys feel about Mike Judge but I’m a fan. His works do have some problematic elements but I think he’s a more intelligent comedian that Seth MacFarlane.
“FWIW, apparently the Redditor of the Day moderators didn’t didn’t really research AnnArchist, and at least one of them has said it was a big mistake.”
I guess that IS something. But STILL. :p
I’m the odd one out then. American Psycho is my favorite novel of all time. The way the products and clothing are described in the exact same nuanced, loving detail as the murders will never fail to be hilarious to me.
I enjoyed the detailed descriptions music of the eighties for American Psycho otherwise not much of a fan of either.
Idiocracy set my teeth on edge because it made NO sense.
Quackers, the problem is that Idiocracy explicitly depicts “stupidity” as genetic and states that the problem with the world is that stupid people breed too fast. That’s straight-up eugenics and suggests some fixes much uglier than “improve education and de-emphasize consumption.”
Also, the only woman of any significance is a creepily stereotyped prostitute.
