Women oppress men by “playing” at having a career

Silly woman! You probably don't even know how to work that computer.

Well, here’s a new twist. We all know, from reading the endless tirades on the subject scattered all over the manosphere, that women are evil, selfish and ungrateful creatures whose primary goal in life is to leech off of men and make them miserable.

In a recent post titled Playing Career Woman, manosphere blogger Dalrock takes on some of the most evil and selfish ladies of the whole lot of them: upper middle class ladies who insist on going to college and getting jobs, then later leave the workforce to raise their children.

You might think that these ladies would deserve some props from traditional-minded manosphere dudes for supporting themselves instead of leeching off of men during their twenties, then settling into a more traditional housewifely role once they have children.

Oh, but you don’t realize just how evil and disruptive and oppressive their phony careers are to the men of the world. After all, these aren’t women who need to work to support themselves. No, according to Dalrock, these are “women who use their education and career as a way to check off the box to prove their feminist credentials before settling down into an entirely traditional role.”

According to Escoffier, a commenter on Dalrock’s site whom he quotes with approval, in the good old pre-feminist days:

Women who pursued careers (apart from traditional female roles such as teaching … ) were considered at best sort of harmlessly odd … but we know that family life is superior and more important.

Then came feminism:

Now it’s “You MUST do this for own sake, not to do it is to not realize your potential.” …

The way the [upper middle class] has “solved” this problem is to send girls to college, let them launch their careers–whether in soggy girly stuff like PR or crunchy stuff like business and law–and then they marry late (~30), have kids a few years later and drop out of working at least until the kids are grown.

This answers a couple of needs, not least the need for two incomes to accumulate assets so that the couple can eventually buy into a UMC school district.

Oh, but these women aren’t really earning money because they need it to, you know, pay bills and shit:

[T]he real importance of this solution is to her psyche. Getting the education and career are a way of telegraphing “I am a complete person, not some drone like June Cleaver. I am just as smart and capable as any man. In my altruistic concern for my children, I choose not to use my talent in the marketplace but to devote myself to them.” In other words, she needs that education and early career to mark her as better than a mere housewife, even though she will eventually choose to become a housewife.

According to Dalrock, such women are far more evil than the feminist women who get jobs and stick with them. (Emphasis added.)

Men and women who work hard to support themselves understand that they are in it for the duration.  There is a determined realism to them. … These aren’t the women we are talking about.  The women Escoffier described see having a career as a badge of status to be collected on their way to their ultimate goal of stay at home housewife.  They aren’t really career women, they are playing career woman much the way that Marie Antoinette played peasant and Zoolander’s character played coal miner.

In the comments, someone calling himself Carnivore explains just how unfair this all is to the poor innocent working men of the world:

When men get a degree or go through a vocational program and then land a job, they’ve normally got 40+ years to contribute to increasing the wealth of society. Women “playing” career damage society:

1. They displace men for positions in college or vocational school.

2. Upon landing a job, they displace other men for the job position.

3. The increase in the labor pool drives down wages (supply & demand).

4. While in the labor pool, women are less effective and less productive than men.

5. Because they are in the labor pool and cannot compete with men, women support labor laws to enforce “equality” which burden businesses and can cause men to get fired due to some infringement or just to meet quotas.

6. When they leave the labor pool after becoming bored, there is now a hole than can be difficult to fill because the men who would normally fill it have been displaced for all the reasons above.

Carnivore places part of the blame on the feminism-infected parents who taught these women the wrong things:

Women do NOT know what they want. They have to be guided. Most parents have so bought into feminism that they don’t see any other way. It’s a riot – or sad – talking to parents when they go into all the detail about choosing a college, going on campus visits, making sure she gets into the best school, etc., etc. You would think these parents would spend their time and energy on prepping their daughters for the most important life decision – choosing a man for marriage, how to make a husband happy and how to raise healthy children.

The commenter called Ray takes it one step further:

i was in the workplaces during feminism 1.0, and it had nothing to do with fairness, equity, egalitarianism, or any other positive attribute

in fact, it was a slaughter, resulting in the vast disenfranchisement and destruction of millions of american men — there were dozens of ways men could be hassled, RIFd, and forced from employment, and they were (all to chants of Equality and Empowerment)

this resulted in the massive unemployment of the very men needed to create, invent, and revitalize the culture. and to be fathers to sons . …

no female should be employed, or educated, if it means a qualified male must be excluded

Women, stop leeching off men by paying your own way!

So if not for one of those “promiscuous” women, the second world war would have turned out very different.

For Meller, this is a bad thing.

No, it’s going out looking for sex. My point is, that’s a sort of old-fashioned thing to think.

Actually, Simpson was used to give the government cover for the abdication. One way, or another, he was going to be forced out. Her presence made it much easier to do, without causing a constitutional crisis.

I wanted to add that I have spent more than a bit of time in trailer parks (my older sister lived in one for awhile, as did my cousins), and I would choose the average resident there over Meller or NWO in the blink of an eye.

Meller just seems to hate the poor and think they are evil.

I’m not sure I’ve ever met a man as awful as either of those two in real life.

I grew up in one. It was a normal life, just we were poor.

In all seriousness, is there anything that women do that these guys don’t feel oppressed by? I guess I just oppressed them by making myself dinner, and now I’m oppressing them by eating it, and adding insult to injury by enjoying it. After I’m done I’ll oppress them some more by working on a fashion article, and then later maybe I’ll oppress them by listening to some music. At the end of the night, I will oppress them by going to sleep.

Women are such evil bitches, oppressing men all the time.

DKM:

You are never going to convince the vast majority of women and a large proportion of men that this is a good idea. How do you propose to convince them?

No matter how you try and dress it up, no matter how much sleight of hand you use to try and fool people that this is in no way coerced the fact still remains. You are talking about “offering” women to “Houses of Entertainment” if they don’t want to live the kind of lives you think they should. People may call women “whores” if they have “too many” sexual partners but they aren’t prostitutes in the true sense of the word. Not in any way, shape or form. There is a vast difference between choosing your partners using your own set of criteria as to what you find attractive and being “offered” (your very own word) to “Houses of Entertainment”. Most women will not go into your brothels, to be used by men, quietly. You can say they won’t be coerced all you like but this is simply not going to happen unless you do.

You can’t just give lip service to human decency by saying that women won’t be coerced or punished for not wanting to fall in with your plans when we all know that women won’t do it willingly and you are going to have to force them.

What you are offering is pretty much complete sexual and civil freedom while offering women one of a number of forms of sexual slavery. Why should women have to put up with that kind if dishonest bullshit?

That should be “offering men complete sexual and civil freedom while offering women one of a number of forms of sexual slavery”.

I am aware of the fact that he was a horrific king and it would have been a dreadful mess if they had tried to get rid of him. Her being there made it romantic and tolerable.

Typewriter? Typewriter? Seriously? You really are trying to live in the past, aren’t you?

That’s what caught my eye, too. Is he calling his computer a typewriter? Does he just happen to have a typewriter near his computer? Did he purchase a typewriter for the express purpose of vomiting on it?

Maybe DKM is the protagonist from “Naked Lunch”. That would explain a lot actually.

DKM:

I NEVER said, and would never want, women-at-large to work in brothels. A lot of you are so sexually neuter that, since you insist upon bringing up the subject, you modern women couldn’t excite a paying customer sexually more than a dead fish!

So you’re not opposed to the idea, you just don’t think it would work.

VoIP:

He really has no idea that normal women can want sex, and that heterosexual sex is possible outside a context of possession, does he?

I think the fact he believes women who sleep around would regard prostitution as basically the same thing makes that abundantly clear.

hellkell:

He probably has a Victrola as well. It’s right over by the abacus.

Hey! I have an abacus!

(It’s not superior to computers for most purposes, or even to the calculator on my phone when I’m on the train, but I think knowing how to use an abacus is a useful an interesting skill to have).

Saru:

You can’t just give lip service to human decency by saying that women won’t be coerced or punished for not wanting to fall in with your plans when we all know that women won’t do it willingly and you are going to have to force them.

It should be clear that a maximum of two of the following statements can be simultaneously true:
1. Promicuous women (however defined) will pretty much all work in brothels.
2. A handful, at most, of promiscuous women will be willing to work in brothels
3. There will be no coercion of promiscuous women.

I think he thinks that, just as I know I’m not 6’6″ and don’t need it proven, most women know they’re intellectually and morally inferior to men; in Mellertopia, they will as willingly adcknowlege it as I acknowlege my height, thus negating #2.

In practice I think he has a definition of “coercion” so idiosyncratic as to, in his mind, negate #3.

For the look of the thing, he’s trying to give the appearance of backing off from #1 without going so far as to suggest he doesn’t at least think it’s a good idea.

This Meller person sounds like a big fan of The Handmaid’s Tale. Is he maybe doing some sort of internet performance art in tribute to Margaret Atwood?

My girlfriend collects typewriters! We’re going to have a party for one of her typewriters’ hundredth birthday next weekend.

She would object very much to someone vomiting on them, though.

One of these days we’re going to find out that Meller is like 23 years old, but his obsession with the supposedly pre-feminist era is only fueled by the fact that he has no actual experience with it.

(…actually, this might be true. Most people who were alive during the 50s know it wasn’t just Leave It To Beaver.)

It’s like steampunk, but instead of an alternate universe where the Victorians had advanced technology, it’s for an alternate universe where women are kept as housepets. Fluffypunk.
