100% Mathmatically Accurate! Manosphere blogger Dalrock on slut-shaming

"Kids Love it!" Another claim that is not 100% accurate.

The director of the first Human Centipede film – the one about a psychopathic doctor who sews three unwilling and unwitting captives together mouth-to-anus to make a sort of “centipede” — proudly declared that his film was “100% medically accurate.” That is, he found a  doctor who was willing to say that if one were indeed to create such a centipede, the second and third segments (i.e., people) would be able to survive, provided that you supplemented their rather dismal diet with IV drips to give them the nutrition they were lacking.

This dubious claim to 100% accuracy came to mind today as I perused a post by the blogger who calls himself Dalrock, a manospherian nitwit with a penchant for pseudoscientific defenses of old-fashioned misogyny. In a post with the whimsical title “We are trapped on Slut Island and Traditional Conservatives are our Gilligan,” Dalrock argues that the best “solution” to out-of-wedlock births is some good old-fashioned slut shaming.

Here’s how he breaks down the (imaginary) numbers in a post that is “100% mathematically accurate” – which is to say, not accurate at all:

Assume we are starting off with 100 sluts and 30 alphas/players.  The sluts are happily riding on the alpha carousel.  Now we introduce slut shaming.  It isn’t fully effective of course, but it manages to convince 15 of the would be sluts not to be sluts after all.  This means an additional 15 women are again potentially suitable for marriage.  This directly translates into fewer fatherless children.  This also makes the next round of slut shaming easier.  Instead of having 99 peers eagerly cheering her on her ride, each slut now has 15 happily married women shaming her and only 84 other sluts encouraging her.  After the next round this becomes 30 happily married women shaming the sluts, and only 69 other sluts cheering them on, and so on.  This process continues until all but the most die hard sluts are off the carousel.  You will never discourage them all, but you can do a world better than we are doing today.

Why not shame the fathers as well, while we’re at it? Dalrock explains that this just doesn’t make good mathematical sense:

Start with the same base assumption of 100 sluts and 30 players.  Now apply shame to the players.  Unfortunately shame is less effective on players than it is on sluts, so instead of discouraging 15% of them (4.5) in the first round, it only discourages three of them.  No problem!, says the Gilligan [the social conservative], at least there are now three fewer sluts now that three of the evil alphas have been shamed away, and all without creating any unhappy sluts!  But unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.  The remaining 27 players are more than happy to service the extra sluts.  They are quite maddeningly actually delighted with the new situation.  Even worse, the next round of player shaming is even less effective than the first.  This time only 2 players are discouraged, and one of the other 3 realizes that his player peers are picking up the slack anyway and reopens for business.  This means in net there are still 26 players, more than enough to handle all of the sluts you can throw at them.

Well, there’s no arguing with that!

Seriously, there’s no arguing with that, because it is an imaginary construct with only the most tenuous connection with how things work in the real world. “But … MATH!” doesn’t really work as an argument here, since human beings don’t actually behave according to simplistic mathematical formulas.

Film critic note: While the first Human Centipede film offered little more than a workmanlike treatment of a fantastical idea, the recently released sequel, which details the attempts of a deranged Human Centipede superfan to take human-centipeding to the next level, is actually sort of brilliant. If you like that sort of thing.

NWO, only if you believe that clump of cells is a person, which you apparently do. Science and others tend to disagree with you.

NWO – what’s your opinion on the status of zygotes in freezers at fertility clinics?

Holly Pervocracy

I just went through a little fantasy vignette in my mind where I lived in Meller’s world and I was disguising myself as a man. It’s got story potential, to be honest.

Don’t know what the fuck would have to be wrong with you to want that in the real world though.

Mellertoad:

I think that I already made a suggestion regarding that possibility. Women who give up the protection of their families, and embrace a life of dissolution are offered to houses of business where these women’s proclivities and talents are put to the most profitable use, while assuring their safety, cleanliness, and personal livelihood.

A law firm, perhaps? An accounting office?

They, and other women like them, will be given up to businesses/ agencies whose specialty is the entertainment and the pleasure of men.

Oh, entertaaaaaaaainment. So, like … puppet shows?

as far as prostitution, I’ve seen many in the manosphere say it would solve all their problems….

but aren’t they essentially saying that by paying a prostitute that their sexuality has no value or are they saying something else?

I’ve seen Feminist’s hold puritanical views-ie Rogr Jensen.

I’ve seen others labelled as sex positive say a woman should have the freedom to choose such a career…..

Everyone’s life began at conception. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be here.

That doesn’t make any sense. xD

If my parents didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be here either. That doesn’t mean my parents are ME XD

“If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be here.”

Basically, you just… said “because I said so” XD

Of course I’d still be here. I’M HERE AREN’T I? XD

Also “NOBODY KNOWS REALITY BUT ME” isn’t an argument XD

Let’s put an end to that :3

If I’m so out of touch of reality, therefore I must be a danger to people around me correct? Also my job, because I work with shelters and social services… REAL ACTUAL people can be harmed or killed BECAUSE OF ME if you honestly believe this… so if you actually factually believe this and this isn’t just you throwing insults…. you believe I should be stopped correct? Before I hurt more actual people?

NWO, just curious, if the father wants the embryo “murdered” also, does that make it okay?

(Or is this one of those things, like gays, that simply couldn’t happen?)

Magpie – Pure Dewey – But that’s spontaneous order for you, or the persistence of incultured habit, I suppose 😉

Okay, NWO – What vote? Without a state, who would I vote for? How is abortion going to be policed? What state apparatus is protecting the right to property? Is there a military? What am I voting for? I support the presumption of equal custody, and I believe that alimony needs to be decided on a case by case basis, based on the couples own contract and circumstances, since I do not believe in state marriage – It’s a private matter. How will the abortion law be enforced? Equality of life liberty and property IS all the equality I want, and to that end, I also believe in changing social attitudes so that women and men and genderqueers and intersex and all others can fully embrace all that means. So yeah, sounds good, but what about the State? Because equality before the law doesn’t mean much if the law oppresses?

Meller – You can’t have “sluts” if the sexual availability of girls is strictly contained or forbidden, if unmarried girls from good families are simply unavailable for use, and even for observation without the knowledge and consent of the father, mother, and perhaps older women of the family, along with close and trusted friends or neighbors to say nothing about, (if called for) the local constabulary!

Ami – “What if they don’t want to be? Then what?

Who is going to contain or forbid them if they don’t want to be? o: ”

Precisely. Libertarianism is a philosophy of self ownership. People are ends in themselves, not means to the ends of others, and individual choice and consent is paramount. I remain curious as to why your proposed libertarian society subsumes the individual into the family. Why should neighbors spy on neighbors and report their sexual going’s on to the constabulary? You have mumbled things about there being other societies in your libertarian order, so what happens when a woman wishes to leave? You have mentioned her finding civil justice against a husband for abuse if her family agrees, but have also said that divorce would only be permitted under certain circumstances, and apparently not under the woman’s own power. Without a state, how is this enforced without coercion? I know that you have said that women having the same rights as men need to be reconsidered, but I remain unclear as to how all this shakes out.

See also Roderick Long’s “Beyond Patriarchy, A Libertarian Model of The Family” for some of the issues at play here.

http://freenation.org/a/f43l2.html

Now, do I believe that many more socially conservative and religious communities can and will thrive in libertarianism? Yes, I do. Yes I am more than willing to work with conservative and religious libertarians who are acting in good faith so far as we can achieve our common goals. But your positions increasingly seem rights-violating and unacceptable in libertarian terms.

To quote the Market Anarchist FAQ:

http://c4ss.org/market-anarchism-faq/whats-with-the-socially-conservative-strain-of-anarcho-capitalism-coming-out-of-the-mises-institute-and-hans-herman-hoppe

“As Ross Kenyon writes, “Some communities will operate within the gender binary, be strictly vegan, be members of a certain religion, be different or no degrees of collectivized, allow or disallow firearm possession amongst countless other value decisions. This is the beauty of the voluntary association principle enacted: no one person or group of people has all the information necessary to coordinate everyone else. We’re still growing, learning and developing. Systems which allow innovators to prove to us their ideas in practice without forcing it on everyone else is a fundamental concept of liberal inquiry and an open society.”

For this process to work successfully one must acknowledge a vital feature of market anarchist thought: choice is more than a nominal choosing. By rendering more autonomy to the individual in putting their values into place on a decentralized scale and experimenting we aim to out-compete exploitative or unjust forms of social organization. With this ability also comes the responsibility to create ontological entities (other humans) with the ability to fully comprehend the systems which they are participating in.”

-Some of your statements have also indicated those in your system, particularly woman, would be prevented from learning about and contacting those who promoted other ways of life – Again, this seems to take away the possibility of informed choice and consent, not small things in a libertarian system.

Please explain further. Thankyou.

@stonerwithaboner, I think we’re arguing more against DKM having only “Housewife!” or “Sex slave!” as life choices for women in his alternate universe, rather than saying all prostitution in *real life* is bad…

darksidecat

So, the way sexual women have “freedom” in Meller land is to be forced into brothels. Once again, slavery is freedom.

Everyone’s life began at conception. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be here. The autonomy of the unborn is the right you disreguard, as is the life as well. How telling when women usurp the rights of the most helpless of all of us. My guess is, the unborn really don’t want to die. They just don’t have the right to live in a feminists society.

Everyone’s life began when their grandparents had sex. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be here. See how silly that argument is? In addition, most fetuses that are aborted are aborted long before their is any reasonable debate about higher brain function, so fetuses don’t want anything, being physiologically incapable of such. But, even if this were not the case, no other person has the right to nonconsensual use of another’s body. I can’t steal your organs or blood to live, can I, NWO? The personhood argument does not lead to your conclusions either http://spot.colorado.edu/~heathwoo/Phil160,Fall02/thomson.htm

You’re just a clump of cells as well. A newborn is a clump of cells, not so many as me. A newborn can’t survive on it’s own, neither can a 1 year old. Can we kill them as well? Lotsa feminists want to make abortion legal pretty much up to the very second of delivery. Do tell, when do you consider an unborn child a life? Hmmm? What’s the exact age you’ll allow termination?

my disgust at Meller made me screw up my blockquotes.

And NWO, you’re reading comprehension really sucks. How does releasing “Moms with 2 years or less left to serve for “non-serious, non-sexual” crimes” equal “They’re shutting down men’s prisons”

I don’t agree with this new policy. But if they insist on it they should release the men on the same terms too. Though I noticed you left out the part that said “Inmates who are fathers also may see early releases, if they’re considered “primary caregivers” for their children.”

NWO – what about the zygotes in freezers?

stonerwithaboner

Life begins at conception for argument:

“There is no more appropriate moment to begin calling a human “human” than the moment of fertilization. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, because it would be a degradation of factual embryology to say it would be any other moment. For example, some pro-abortion zealots and even, shockingly, some disingenuous physicians claim it is the moment of primitive notochord formation (nonsense!) or, even more absurdly, the moment of implantation. (It defies sanity to claim that the implantation of a developing blastocyst onto a uterine wall defines humanity more than does the completion of an entirely new DNA map, which defines a new organism’s existence).”

against….

“The fact of the matter is that conception is no less of an arbitrary ‘line in the sand’ than any other point that one picks, such as the development of the brain, birth or development of self-awareness. But there is nothing wrong per se with something being arbitrary (after all, the time when people are old enough to vote is arbitrary), so we should now look at whether there is a good reason for not using conception as the start of a human being’s life.”

P.S. Meller, I am also a very involved ally in sex worker’s rights. Why should there be a specific ” brothel model?” for unmarried ladies. Why not a variety of sex work, controlled by workers. This is not a “service to the community” thing, like comfort women. For my opinions on sex work, I listen to the needs and voices of sex workers. And very, very many of them are already praiseworthy.
