But recently one of the regulars on MGTOWforums.com discovered the concept of “lesbian bed death” – the mythological notion that lesbians in long term relationships barely ever have sex – and, well, a very strange conversation ensued. It really doesn’t work that way at all. Suppose you’d called someone by a vicious racial epithet; when questioned you said, “well, not all of [minority group] are [epithet], and besides, it has nothing to do with their race.” That would be silly. It wouldn’t make the word less vicious or racist, and it wouldn’t protect those hurt by your comment.
The language you use exists to demean and insult women. You used it to demean and insult a woman, and you don’t think this reflects more broadly on you because you don’t plan to do so more widely. That won’t follow.
Listen, I’m with JSmooth. I don’t care whether you ARE a misogynist. Hate or not hate all you want. But what you SAID was misogynist, whether you meant it or not. If you’re a person of good faith, I urge you to stop using slurs like “slut” or “whore,”* both here and elsewhere. If you don’t understand what the problem with these words is, I’m sure we could tell you at greater length, if you’d like to know. But please don’t simply say “I didn’t mean it that way, so I won’t change;” that’s about an unwillingness to listen to others and learn from their understanding.

Simon: Well, do you have relevant REAL research? Barring actual research with a remotely statistically significant sample, it seems to me simplest to default to “all orientations and genders are equally likely to cheat.”
And while, strictly, calling people whores might not necessarily be sexist as long as you apply your standards equally to all sexes (although it takes place within a cultural context such that referring to women as “whores” hurts more than referring to men as such), it is definitely a sex-negative and assholish thing to do.
