So some douchebag is impersonating me on Reddit. I post as manboobz. He (or she) posts as manboobz_. (That is, with a little underscore at the end.) Luckily most of the faux-manboobz’ comments are fairly easy to tell from mine — this is not someone with a great sense of subtlety — so at least some of the regulars have figured out that this bonehead is not actually me. Not all of them, unfortunately.
As impersonating someone else is a violation of Reddit’s rules, and an asshole move to boot, I politely asked the Men’s Rights subreddit’s mods to ban the faux-me. Here was the response:

Bagelsan, you can’t rule out that MRAL thinks that Hugo Schwyzer is an unhealthy and unnecessary vaginal cleansing product that interferes with normal bacterial balance. He’s just really concerned that douching, and by extension Hugo Schwyzer, are being marketed to women when it’s probably unnecessary for them to use it/Hugo Schwyzer.

I’ve read a few of Schwyzer’s articles at the Good Men Project site, and he really does sound like a male-bashing female apologist most of the time, just like many other authors over there. I’ve never sent him threats, though, I just stopped reading his articles.

If you’re worried about impersonation, I’d suggest you might want to boycott WordPress.com. One of the transphobic radical feminist blogs on here actually edited someone’s comment criticising them to make it look like she’d posted transphobic remarks agreeing with them instead, and the WordPress.com admins did nothing. (For extra bonus points, I think they may have done this to a trans woman.)
If the guy continues to be a pest, you could email the Reddit admins and ask them to act because it’s a pretty clear violation of Reddit’s TOS. You can’t expect r/mr mods to act in good faith.
Also, Brandon are you involved with project chanology/ anti-Scientology movement? Your writing style and online demeanor remind me of someone from youtube.

The only scenario in which it’s making sense to me that two different people are sending similarly weirdly violent emails to Hugo at the same time from the same location is they know each other.

I can totally see being in college and laughing at like 11pm some night with a friend and one being like, “I should send an email to that douchebag!” and the other being like, “Do it! Right now! Do it!” And then the first guy doing it, while the second guy hunches over his shoulder offering phrasing suggestions.
I’m sure I did something like that in college although probably not with insulting people specifically. Definitely with writing an email to StrongBad.
Also, to whoever above was complaining about wordpress–you know that it’s a tool not a community, right? That’s like “boycott Java, I went to a site run by a jerk who was using Java once.”

MRAL: Well, if you didn’t send that e-mail good for you. Because as far as I know, BU has been notified and its IT Department is working on identifying the culprit. After all, threatening someone in this manner is (probably) a felony and doing so using BU’s networks is certainly a kind of offense that will get that student expelled. From the point of view of BU, if the student who sent that e-mail ever made good on his threat to attack Hugo Schwyzer or his family (because apparently, his wife has also been threatened with the kind of bodily harm that’s easy to guess given who we are dealing with here), BU would find itself sued, probably stuck with a big judgment and roundly embarrassed in the media. No university needs that shit. So regardless of how serious the threat was, you can bet BU (and its insurance carrier, if it has one) will go as far as they possibly can to protect themselves by identifying the individual who is doing this and dropping him like a hot potato.
There’s actually a lot of douchebags at BU, guys. Although I don’t know how many of them are douchebags with specific hate-crushes on Hugo Schwyzer, but still, it’s possible it was one of the other douchebags. MRAL’s suspiciously specific denial of “I didn’t send that particular hate mail!” is actually ringing true for me.
It’s no wonder some doucebag is impersonating David. As others have already said, his own words are reasonable and can’t be used against him. Nobody would need to impersonate an MRA to make the MRM look bad, because the MRA’s are already doing a great job of that themselves. How could anyone impersonate AnnArchist in such a way that makes him look worse than he already does?
