Dr. Pepper Ten: A Diet Soda Going its Own Way

Since dudes apparently scoff at diet drinks, the folks behind the new Dr. Pepper Ten soda decided they needed to really butch up their advertising in order to reach the core soda-drinking demographic, which just happens to be teenage boys. The result? An over-the-top, ironically hypermasculine ad campaign touting the new drink as “NOT FOR WOMEN.”

Here’s one of the ads:

Oh, and they’ve also got a Facebook app that’s — get this! — only available to men! I’m not sure the women of the world are going to suffer much from being banned from playing a rudimentary flash game that involves shooting “girly things.”

I know they’re hoping to generate controversy here, but really? This is just too dumb to even get annoyed about, much less angry. It’s not misogynistic; it’s more a parody of misogyny. Is it such a parody – stereotyping guys as macho buffoons — that it’s actually more misandrist than misogynist? You could make an argument for that, but again the ad is so over the top ridiculous, so soaked in irony, it seems silly to get indignant about this either.

So what’s going to happen when the MRAs of the world hear about this ad? Will they, missing the irony, embrace its Diet Soda Going Its Own Way (DSGIOW) mentality? Or will they denounce it as an example of ad world misandry and pretend to be deeply offended?

I’m betting on the latter. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Oh, good heavens, Nizumi, don’t pull a Pecunium on me! I don’t suggest and I don’t want the subjugation of women! Women, I suggest, should be dominated by men through and with thoughtfulness, kindliness, and love, not brutality, not beatings, and not slavery! I empahsize whenever and wherever possible, the harmony and complementarity between the sexes, not mere “equality”. When men and women reinforce each other’s characters and abilities, when they complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses, they do far better together than either does alone!

Men and women can enjoy each other, as opposite and complementary, NOT as ersatz substitutes for one another. That is the focus of my Peace and Freedom.

I focus upon quality, not “equality”. You should do the same!

The way DKM talks about women as dogs makes me hope he doesn’t have a dog.

I can’t picture him being compassionate with a stubborn dog that doesn’t train well, or a chronically sick dog that needs special care, or a gray old dog that’s not cute and playful anymore.

Or even just an ordinary dog that has an ordinary dog need to run around and act like an animal and and get dirty and generally meet its own needs rather than only its “master”‘s.

I comfort myself, knowing that none of DKM’s hare-brained schemes will ever come to pass.

Dude? The 19th century called, and it wants its attitudes towards women back.

Alright, so I misspelled “aspartame”. Sue Me! That is why they put erasers on pencils. Haven’t any of you accidently misspelled a word before?

Don’t be getting your panties in a bunch, DKM, as you were simply given the correct response to a question that you posed.

Kariface and amnesia

Not necessarily! In every collection of their works, you find that working women and the not-so-wealthy were also painted, and often recorded quite honestly, as lovingly as their wealthier sisters! I ‘ll grant that some ‘retouching’ may have been done, but even wthout, in taverns, factories, and slums, the working class women still had a womanliness, eroticism and even beauty about them that modern women altogether lack, whatever their socioeconomic level

Mores the pity!

Sometimes I think that if painters from past centuries came back to life today, and see you contemporary power suited, robotic voiced, crop haired, walk-like-a-man type of women (no, I’m NOT only talking lezzies here) they would wonder if our species still came in two sexes!

At any rate, they painted women of their times as they (women) might be and ought to be. What does that say about the photos and paintings of modern women today?

Does the fact that I have a tiara collection make me less of a feminist? What about my long hair? Or the fact that I like dressing in poofy dresses like Glinda the good?

Little Davie Meller said: And yes, “liberation” has turned a lot of women into ugly hags! If you should doubt that, look at women as they were in previous centuries, e.g. paintings of Rubens and Rembrandt to paintings of Renoir and Monet. Women then looked like flowers. I don’t know what modern women look like, but weeds wouldn’t be too far off the track!

Because we know the painters were 100 percent true to life (and I didn’t know Davie liked ’em so zaftig Diana and her Nymphs (and those women looks pretty docile to me, esp. the one on the right).

I happen to think this Rembrandt is lovely, but she’s not presented as being “picture perfect” and probably not as one of Little Davie’s “flowers”.

Yes, I’m sure the women who toiled in 17th and 18th century textile mills were the absolute picture of femininity.

It seems the transparent-shirted non-pantied miniskirt-wearing woman of NWO’s world is the power-suited (robotic voiced???? wha???) crop-haired butch woman of DKM’s world.

…And in both cases, I’m supposed to care. It’s this double bind where it’s hilariously untrue, but if it were, I don’t know why I wold give any shits other than “good for them, they’re dressing and presenting the way they want.”

Yes, we know that you hate to be quoted; it looks bad when your words are there in black and white, viz: I don’t suggest and I don’t want the subjugation of women! Women, I suggest, should be dominated by men

Because domination is so different from subjugation. Not the same thing at all.

From Merriam Webster, the synonyms for “subjugate”

Synonyms: dominate, overpower, pacify, subdue, subject, conquer, subordinate, vanquish

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/subjugate?show=0&t=1318429749

More dictionary related fun, the definition of slavery

Definition of SLAVERY
1: drudgery, toil
2: submission to a dominating influence
3a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another b : the practice of slaveholding

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slavery

Keep on blatantly contradicting yourself from one sentence to the next, Meller.

Even today, the people you see pictured in media and advertising and movies are prettier than most the average people you see every day. Photoshop can remove blemishes, acne, wrinkles, make you thinner, so on and so forth. If someone from the future were to judge us based only on our popular media, they might conclude people are more beautiful now than they are in their time.

JohnnyBB

Yeah, I think DKM tends to focus on what he wants to see, and not what the majority of the media portrays. The “butch” woman, or the “power” woman really occurs only rarely, and often only as some kind of punchline.

Yes, just as I’m sure that the women who toiled in the coal mines as “coal-drawers” were the absolute picture of femininity, too.

@Pam: Of course, those women didn’t actually exist, because according to the MRA narrative women have only worked outside the home in large numbers since modern day feminism took over!

DKM… I understand you want another world in which everyone explaines to you what a special snowflake you are and women can’t chose for themselves, making you feel important fov havin power over anyone… but that’s just wrong. I believe you have visited school, which mean that you know what are the low of the lows when one group of people have absolute control over another group of people.
The picture is not pretty.

In regards to modern women looking like hags…
It’s not like beauty is subjective or anything now, is it?
Because I am not that in awe to the women in the paintings you are commenting. Thus I see your biggest flaw… you think everyone has the same taste as you, which is not the case.
For instance, I find people like you tacky and intelectually boring. But you would not hear me promoting that people like you should be controled, having less rights and so on.

You look to some old pictures and imply agenda and skills, as well as qualities to some paint, not to real people. You have NO IDEA what type of characters these women had. They could have been anything. Or being pretty is enoug for you and you don’t care about anything else?

Real people are messy, complicated, imperfect and frankly, a tad more interesting than a painting. To lounge for other people do be propery is wrong on so many levels, that I can;t even.

The very idea that some people are somehow superior to other and should be able to control their lives is horrible. Because in your case, you fall in the safe category, by being male and thus in your world, you are completely free by any chance of abuse in this (dys)utopia you dream for. There would be no chance that you will be victimised or treated like less-of-a-being, so you could smugly explain how excellent that world will be… for you.

In short… you will proceed to live in privileged society where you get things and treatment for things that have nothing to do with your skills, intelligence, choices and so on, but just because you are born.

Forgive me for being less than excitet that some dumb fuck like you would have more privileges, options and rights than me on the note for having a dick.

Has tiara collection: very good!
Has long, flowing hair: Better!
Enjoys dressing up in “poofy” dresses like ‘Glinda the good’: Better still!

Every little bit helps.

There may be hope for you yet, even if you post as a feminist on manboobz.com, Kariface.

@JohnnyBB,

Nothing that occurred pre-modern-day-feminism need be considered anymore, because those people are dead now
Of course the above is not applicable when MRAs regale us with their tales of men having hunted the woolly mammoth in order to feed women and therefore women today should continue to be subject to and worship men.

Eneya,

If it is your time of the month, take some Midol and go to bed! If you are sexually frustrated, get a lover. If you are having a nervous breakdown, go to the nearest ER, and get yourself tranquilized!

“Classism” and “racism” are made-up words that egalitarians concoct when they are confronted with facts (or even with opinions) with which they disagree, and yet can’t think of any arguments against. I don’t know what planet YOU are from, but belive me, merely being a man–or being White, for that matter, does NOT make you a part of any ‘ruling class”! I am just as victimized by the criminal oligarchy of the NWO–Bilderburg group, Federal Reserve, Bank of International Settlements, World Trade Organization, Trilateral Commission, etc. as anyone else on the planet, and my “race’ or “class” has nothing to do with it!

Feminism is one, and only one, of the ways which those globalist corporate ‘mafiosi’ turn us against each other, and one of the ways we are hobbled by fighting with each other, instead of reclaiming our respective nations, communities, and races!

Calm yourself down and understand this!

PEACE AND FREEDOM!!
