Oh, and burrowing ability.
Now Dachshunds I don’t particularly like. They can have a real mean streak under the best of circumstances, in my experience. They’re also capable of disemboweling badgers.
Hey, I just realized that this kind of links back to the post in which the MRAs were fantasizing about playing Mad Max and bending vulnerable tribes of women to their will. Maybe I should get a Tibetan Mastiff after all. I mean, I want one because they’re beautiful, but it would be an amusing Darwin Awards moment to see if these guys were stupid enough to attack a woman walking along with a giant guard dog that was bred to be able to kill tigers.*
* To protect livestock, not just because the breeders were assholes who disliked tigers
My favorite large dog is the Great Pyrenees. It’s big, it’s fluffy, and it looks like it would make a great doggy pillow.
Also Newfies! Which are great in that they’re not aggressive at all. I’ve seen a Newfie just stand there any let random children treat it like a climbing frame.

Ever see Azumanga Daioh?
Mr. Tadakichi was a Great Pyrenees? I didn’t realize he was an actual breed. I just.. you know, after Chiyo-chichi…
Yeah, they show up in a lot of anime, apparently.
Well a fair amount, anyway. “A lot” might be an overstatement.
Isn’t the dog that meets a truly horrifying end in Fullmetal Alchemist also a Great Pyrenees?
I think it was, yeah. And also Akamaru from Naruto.
That whole “talking chimera” bit was horrifying on so many levels. It makes me want to cry and throw up just thinking about it.
That episode was one of the most upsetting things I’ve seen in a while. There were bits of that series where it got to be too much boring filler from a dramatic POV, but when it was good it was really good.
I didn’t really like how it ended, but I haven’t seen the movie, so maybe they went somewhere good with it.
Nope! They didn’t. ^^
But I’ve heard good things about Brotherhood — follows the manga more closely, etc.
Yeah, I wanna see the new series too, but I think I’d like to read the manga first.
Not that I mind, personally, but this thread has gotten seriously off topic.
