Happy Patriotic Kitten Day!

Happy Fourth of July! At least for my readers who live in the US. The rest of you can have a happy day as well, but yours will probably involve fewer fireworks.  Anyway, no misogyny today. Instead, here’s a kitten making its own fireworks with the help of an iPad. Consider this an open thread.

Also, it hasn’t been one session, it’s been like six or seven. I’ve been meeting with him every other day.

The most interesting dye job I ever saw was a girl with black hair who bleached the roots and then dyed them indigo, so it looked like she had natural indigo hair that she had dyed black and was growing back in. Must have been a nightmare to maintain, though.

Ami and Hellkell, thanks for the suggestions! I was actually thinking about purple. Maybe I’ll look some more! XD

Ami, I don’t want to bleach because my hair is very dry and damage-prone, and I’m worried about ruining the texture. Plus, I actually like my natural deep brown (I feel like it complements my skin nicely) so I don’t think I’m ready to let go of that yet.

My hair is currently somewhere between a bob and a pixie cut; I’m thinking of getting a classic pixie, but I’m waiting until I’m really sure. XD

@Speedlines rly? that sounds pretty cool! 😀 I had red hair in HS (not like a bright red, like the kind you’d see on a HK popstar xD I was VERY into HK pop culture in HS), I kinda always wanted to do something rly neat like that :3

I never liked TV cartoons as a kid, being a Disney snob from an early age. But I freaking LOVED those live action Sid and Mary Krofft shows.

@Simone yeah 😀 Freefall’s style was always so awesome to me, and I’ve considered doing my hair like hers for so long xD It was between her and Supergirl (blonde) and I took Supergirl xD

Simone, you’re welcome! One other thing, if you do the bleach, have it done professionally, it’s a lot less damaging than the stuff you can get. Unless you use 20 volume developer for a longer amount of time and use a top-notch conditioner afterward.

That blue at the roots does sound like hell to maintain.

@Simone – I regularly dye my partner’s hair in rainbow colors and they don’t really show up unless we bleach all his hair first. He’s only got medium brown hair, so it’ll probably show up even less on your dark brown hair. Probably more like a wash/tint than a really obvious bright color. If you’re thinking about cutting your hair really short and keeping it that way for a while, bleaching it first isn’t that bad – my partner’s hair only gets bleached and dyed once or twice before he’s cut off and grown completely new hair (we dye it about every 6 weeks).

If you’d rather just stick with the subtle tint, I have seen one really cool effect – a friend dyed her black hair with purple, green, and blue. It kind of looked like an oil slick (in a rainbowy, shiny good way).

@Hellkell yeah, I agree w/ the done professionally xD That’s how I do it, and I have a great hairdresser (she did the contacts work on the recent Resident Evil movie too xD ) and my hair is generally pretty good, and as you notice, the bleach has lasted this long even tho my hair has been un-retouched for so long xD

And DA:O kicked ME’s butt, but that’s because I prefer my RPGs to be, well, RPGs. Can’t stand shooters.

Well, I guess it’s not turn-based. But ME’s combat system still heavily favors preparedness and strategy. It’s also much slower-paced than your average FPS because of the heavy emphasis on cover-based combat. The closest shooter is Gears which still isn’t comparable because in ME you carry a shitload of guns and can alter them and all that. So it’s all about what you bring into the battle, not the battle itself.

@Johnny Pez rly? 😮 you should ask her then! 😀 I think she could guess xD

Simone, if you use something like manic panic after midnight blue or the dark green that they have it would look really subtle on unbleached hair so you’d probably only notice it in the sunlight, but I’ve done that where I’ve bleached part of my hair then dyed everything with the dark blue and it looked pretty cool, and pretty low maintenance unlike bright red or something.

I’ve been watching My Little Pony lately. I’m only a few episodes in (I got sidetracked with Mr. Show lately), but I’m liking it a lot.

Pinkie Pie is my favourite, I think.

The first episode seems to set it up as a completely different show though. Maybe it gets back to more of the adventure stuff later; I’m not sure. It’s good either way.

Oh NWO: You never learn.

You aren’t hurting our feelings. You aren’t even making us all that angry. Sad perhaps, that a human being can be so deluded, and so angry, and so full of hate for his fellow humans.

I understand that a good christian loves everyone.

A decent christian strives to love everyone.

And a poor christian still hates people; and mocks them, forgetting the actual teaching (by example) of Jesus, and Peter and Paul. Peter was willing to invite a centurian into his home, and treat him (unclean as he was) as a decent person. He didn’t mock him, nor abuse him, nor any other evil things.

But, by their fruits ye shall know them, and as love begets love, so to does anger, and hatred, beget anger and hatred.

I’ll give you a bit of verse too, because it’s important, as you go about, being hateful, and angry with the world, to remember what Jesus said:

41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

And now… to page 2.

Thanks Simone!

Oh, and for video game talk: I like going back in time and playing old games. One moment, Star Control 2. The next, Sonic the Hedgehog. Then Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Final Fantasy VI…so on and on.

Why? Well, because most modern games bore the hell out of me. Don’t get me wrong, I do acknowledge gems like Minecraft, Blazblue, heck even Brian Age and Wii Fit, but the problem is that most modern games seem to be made based on demographics and marketing than content or gameplay.

Plus, a lot of older games are a lot of fun to play with others. I mean, who hasn’t played Goldeneye with their friends back in the day (and still does from time to time)?

(P.S.: I was born in 1990, so maybe I’m an oddity.)

@redlocker I like playing older games too and I lurve FF6 😀 Tho my favourite of all time is still FF4 and Secret of Mana is prolly my favourite game of all time (I made a top 100 list xD The bottom 60 is kinda convoluted, but the top is always SMB3, Secret of Mana and FF4… Skies of Arcadia Legends is up there too xD It’s got the polyamorous solution to the love triangle too which I <3 so much 😀 )

I like ff8 too xD (just cuz of Rinoa… my cat is named Rinoa and I have a Rinoa wallscroll over my bed xD )

and yeah Goldeneye… one of the few FPS I actually liked :3

I dun think you're weird, I think you have awesome taste in games :3

I think there are still a lot of great modern games. I’ll acknowledge that it has become a much more mainstream, profitable industry in the past decade, and with that comes a lot of crap (read: any game based on a movie). But there are also a lot of great companies out there (BioWare is one, Bethesda, Nintendo obviously, Bungie, Rockstar) and the newfound resources that their money gives them allows them to create even better products.

Ami Angelwings

There def are xD I dun think ppl are doing the “kids these days” things xD I think we’re just talking about the older games we like :3

Gah, I meant to type FF4, not FF6, because I haven’t played the latter yet and am currently going through the former.

Oh yes, SMB3…I think I’ll respect the industry again if they manage to make a platformer that surpasses that (Though New Super Mario Bros. Wii is pretty damn fun). Also, I have a friend who is basically BEGGING me to play Skies of Arcadia, and every time I see gameplay footage…I’m like “Wow, I need to get this for my Gamecube while I have the chance!”

I don’t think the problem is that gaming has become more mainstream, but more like the problem is that it has become insuluar and bland due to developers using a scorched earth tactics with their products (I.E.: Making yearly sequel installments and making people pay for content that SHOULD ALREADY BE ON THE DISK). Plus, gaming was VERY mainstream during the days of Pac Man, Street Fighter II, the NES etc..
