Aunt Flo: The Great Deceiver

"That time of the month" is actually a time of great joy for the ladies!

CONFIDENTIAL TO ALL GUYS

LADIES DO NOT READ

Guys, I think I may have been wrong about this whole “feminism” thing. It turns out that the ladies use what’s called their “periods” to manipulate men and act like perfect entitled princesses — at least, as perfect as you can be when you’re bleeding from your crotch!

Anyway, one of the ladies just spilled the beans in an interview with Jezebel. Rachel Kauder Nalebuff – that is so obviously a fake name – told Jezebel’s Anna North:

[F]rankly I … see [menstruation] as a free pass when it comes to getting out of a bind. Guys often know so little about menstruation that they assume the absolute worst. Maybe out of a fear of menstruation or, even more likely, a fear of seeming insensitive, guys tend to be incredibly generous when it comes to giving you freedom to tend to your “feminine needs.”

Menstruation? More like Men Ruination!!

I hereby renounce feminism.

Spotted a typo in NAFALT – should be ‘knew’ not ‘new’…unless this is a joke I missed?

Awesome lot of cards btw – I did like the gay agenda 😉

Oooer, a feministe card. Awesome.

And yes Plymouth – we were all curious to see what that turned out like! At least, I was. Oh, and fyi, I was totally inspired by your zombie nails and am sincerely flattering you with my imitation zombie nails right now. 🙂

Ami: I forgot to say, I love the cards, my nitpick was just a piece of pendantic desire for verismilitude.

I have never understood the way guys are weirded out by menses. I’ve bought tampons, and pads. Big whoop. The former… well barring a through and through bullet wound, I’m not going to use them (and yes, OB tampons are in lots of soldiers bandage pouches, for just that possibility), and the odds of anyone thinking I have bleeding hemmerhoids, and need kotex are really slim.

Sex on her period, get a towel.

re The Vortex: As a Catholic (and one who pondered becoming a Jesuit priest: the reasons I didn’t are a bit complex to get into here, and not really helpful to the discussion; but abistinence wasn’t part of it), allow me to say that The Vortex is so far from actual doctrine and and dogma as to be heretical bordering on grounds for excommunication.

Unlike feminists, MRAs are not sexist.

“I’m not sexist, it’s just that women really do suck!”

Sorry, dude, try harder. The entire movement is full of unapologetic misogynists, who’s second favorite hobby is mocking men who dare to suggest that women might have a few redeeming qualities beyond just her pussy. And even then, you can find quite a few self-described MRAs who revile even that part of a woman.

Why don’t you go onto Pandagon, Feministing or Feministe and find me something that’s full of as much overt hatred of women as an average Spearhead post. Or, if you want to argue that the Spearhead isn’t the vanguard of the MRA movement, find me another site that’s full of Men’s Rights content, with both contributors and commenters, that’s accepted as a leader in the MRA community. Then we can play Who’s More Sexist.

I’m working on a theory that, according to the MRM, the definition of ‘feminist’ is ‘a woman who won’t shut up and do what a man tells her to do.”

Edit: The sentence should be: “Why don’t you go onto Pandagon, Feministing or Feministe and find me something that’s full of as much overt hatred of men as the average Spearhead post is full of hatred of women.”

there.. it goes on and on.. MRAL starts w/ wanting to destroy Islam then somebody uses the word “USian” and he snaps… xD

Denelian uses USian, and Sally Strange defends the usage.

Each of you gets a retroactive internet.

Also, now that a two-way feedback loop has been established between Ami’s cards and my stories, the world is doomed. FYI

I think I might have already posted this in another thread, but it fits this one really well.

As an aside, any thoughts on another Toronto meetup? I finally finished my last University class this week, so there won’t be any more projects getting in the way.

Ms. Crazy Pants, does this mean if someone tries to mug me, I can tell them I’m menstruating? o.O

Thank you Ami and the Gay Agenda (TM) is awesome!

I remember that I once had a two hour argument with a guy over a woman breastfeeding at a restaurant. He thought she should go into the bathroom and feed the kid there because he found breasts attractive and therefore she was trying to make him all horny.

I said “no, YOU should go into the bathroom to eat if you are that offended by someone feeding their kid at a dining table like everyone else.”

PosterformerlyknownasElizabeth – A friend of my mom ended up organizing a protest at a local restaurant because she was breastfeeding her child, and a customer went and complained to the manager, and the manager asked her to stop. Post-protest the manager publicly apologized and because it was a small town in ruled that week’s edition of the paper.

It’s just so weird to me that the idea of breasts as sexual objects trumps the idea of breasts as the thing you feed babies with, which, you know, is their physiological function.

Yep-I think I was most annoyed at him wanting to starve a baby because a breast made him feel uncomfortable.

“because she was trying to making him all horny”

I feel like that statement alone says A LOT about 1. that guy’s male centric view of the world in general, and sex specifically. She didn’t even know him! She was FEEDING A BABY. ANOTHER MAN’S BABY. Which indicates that she may have had another relationship, not to even mention life, outside of that dude seeing her in a restaurant. 2- the sexualization of women’s bodies. Sure, some of our parts are going to be sexy to men, but that is very much a side effect of needing to reproduce. The primary function of our sexual characteristics is to make more people, and sustain those people.
