Men’s Rights Classix: The Age of Consent is Misandry

If it weren't for this guy, there would be no pedophiles.

Today, a trip down memory lane to revisit an until-recently lost classic of modern misogyny: Jay Hammers’ “The Age of Consent is Misandry.” The piece, originally published on Jay Hammers’Men’s Rights blog, inspired some heated discussions amongst MRAs online, with some harshly criticizing the piece as an apologia for pedophilia and others hailing it as a “politically incorrect” masterpiece. Stung by the criticism, Hammers ultimately took his blog down. But the piece has since been resurrected on the Human-Stupidity blog – another blog that seems rather unhealthily obsessed with the supposed injustice of men not being allowed to fuck underage girls.

Here are some of its highlights (that is, lowlights); the headlines are mine.

ALL ABOUT THE MENZ

The arbitrary age of consent is not about protecting women/girls. It is about valuing females and their virtue over males and their freedom. The intent of the laws is to stop older men from having sex with younger women and that is how it is enforced. It was never intended to stop younger men from having sex with older women.

MORE BETA BLUES

Age of consent laws are designed to punish beta males. A beta male in his 20s, unsuccessful with women his own age who are infused with a sense of feminist entitlement and deride all but the top alpha males who take interest in them, who seeks companionship with a younger, sexually mature female who desires him, should not go to prison for acting on that which is normal male sexuality.

FEMINISTS WHO SUPPORT AGE OF CONSENT LAWS ARE TREATING WOMEN LIKE CHILDREN

If we are to treat women as children then we should be consistent. Young women who have sex with older men are as much victims as women who have sex with a pick-up artist after meeting at a club. In both cases, feminists are angry because the woman has been “fooled” into having sex with a less than ideal mate in terms of value. …

This is what makes feminists angry and this is why age of consent exists still today, because it is assumed women are not mentally mature enough to give consent AND because older women want to limit men’s options to increase their own value in the sexual marketplace.

BUT WOMEN ARE CHILDREN, BASICALLY

Older women …  are generally not of a much higher intelligence level than teenage girls. The big difference between the two is that older women are less attractive and that is what makes them so damn angry. …

Females generally do not significantly mature mentally past puberty so it should always be illegal for any woman to have sex or it should never be illegal for any woman to have sex. There is no arbitrary age where females suddenly become self-aware, realizing the consequences of their actions, and stop seeking out alpha males. Thus there must not be an arbitrary age of consent for sex.

A MODEST PROPOSAL

If anything, it should be illegal for women to have sex with men until men have been educated on the truths of women, Marriage 2.0, Game, feminism, and men’s rights.

Discuss?

“@MRAL would you trade your current life, university, etc etc to not be your height and other physical appearance stuff and live out of a car and not eat for 200 days while working a menial job for 18 hour days?”

I’ll clarify. All that stuff is temporary, changeable. It may be really really hard to change (I have a little experience with poverty, not a ton but a little). With enough hard work, intelligence, and strength you can rise above that. Or hell even if you can’t, you can still have hope. Physically, you’re just FUCKED.

If you didn’t catch it, that hypothetical is what NWO says he’s been through.

@Holly, yes, that’s true. Mr. Al, I’m sorry I belittled your psychological issues. They are clearly causing you suffering and for making light of that I am sorry.

Still not as bad as going hungry. Honestly, I can’t think of much that is.

@kirby,

Well, any majorly debilitating genetic anomalies, I suppose. Blindness, deafness, Down’s, etc. Maybe literally dying of starvation. Conscripted soldier. Other than that, not much.

Hahaha, oh yeah, I forgot about NWO’s 200 day hunger strike. Well I’d be dead, so no, but the point is I’d rather not have enough to eat in general, but enough to stay alive.

And I don’t think I have psychological issues, really, so no big deal. It’s physical issues I have.

KristinMH, I laughed for like a minute. I would pay so much money to see that.

Mr. Al: So, I’ve given you several examples of people you could volunteer with who have problems that are not temporary. Let’s add mentally disabled people to the list. So, you’ve got disabled veterans, mentally disabled people, people seeking end-of-life care for painful diseases, people who are living in daily poverty and working in dangerous conditions and have no other options, people who have been through war and seen violence done to their friends and family, people who have been through natural disasters and lost everything they have. You have stuck by your assertion that you cannot volunteer ANYWHERE, because you are worse off in every way than anyone else.

If you want people to think you’re not a fucking idiot, try harder.

MRAL:

You are upset with physical stuff because it wasn’t your fault you got it, and you can’t do anything to change it, correct? See, for non-physical things, things you say can be fixed, a lot of people feel like they can’t do anything. They were born into poverty, unable to go to school, stuck working low paying jobs as a result, just barely getting by and never getting a leg up. In that sense, they are unable to change their situation (on their own at least).

If this isn’t incentive for you to empathize with them, and realize they have it worse than phsyical problems that don’t objectively cause much damage, then at least it is incentive to try to offer them aid so they can change their situation, even if you can’t.

OH MY GOD.

I go to make dinner (and it is delicious, mind you) and come back to this. MRAL, you think you’ve got physical issues? Fuck off. Seriously, go fuck yourself with the stick that is evidently wedged so far up your ass that it’s begin to affect your brain. I shouldn’t have to remind you of Kave’s daughter: BUT. Kave’s daughter. Cancer: worse than being short!

And I am 5’1″. I am short. Very, very short. And I am completely cool with it. Less so with MY genetic abnormality, which is a blood disorder that causes chronic pain and fatigue and will cause me to lose two of my internal organs. WORSE THAN BEING SHORT. I can say this, because I AM SHORTER THAN YOU. And having depression is worse than either of those things, for that matter!

Get help or shut the fuck up.

@Kristin xD That’s an amazing idea xD (dun give it away for free!)

@MRAL so wait… most of the men and boys using men’s shelters, youth shelters or crisis centres are Alphas pretending in order to.. get something? o_O

Oh no, it’s not, MRAL? Because you sure do go on about it a lot. Down to exact quarter inch. And I don’t think you’re in the position to call me a retard either, even if your ableist bullshit were acceptable terminology.

MRAL – Thinking you don’t have psychological issues is what I meant by “no insight.”

See, a person with anorexia who says “I can’t stand to eat because of my anorexia” is still sick, but they have insight–they know they have a problem, even if they haven’t solved it. A person with anorexia who says “I can’t stand to eat because if I eat I’ll be ugly” does not have insight–they don’t know about their problem, or think their problem is different than the one they really have.

Part of the reason you don’t have insight is that your problems consist of false beliefs, so of course those beliefs will tell you that they’re real. Part of the reason is you’re just godawful stubborn and hostile.

Holly Pervocracy

And I should add, another part of the reason it’s so hard for you to get insight is that the MRAs discourage it, because they want you unhappy and “fighting” for them; they don’t want you happy and having a normal life, because then you couldn’t be an MRA anymore.

@MRAL:

Remember way way back when you were complaining about fatty fatty fat mc fat chicks? And how it was their fault because they were lazy? Is this why physical disabilities are the only things that matter to you? Because anything else can be overcome with hard work, and if it isn’t then it is always due to laziness?

Omg. I am way late to this epic thread but it’s a personal area of expertise (er, sort of), so I just wanted to add a bit more anecdata to Holly’s excellent selection. When I was 14, a 29 year old came on to me, and for the next few months groomed me to the point where I decided our forbidden, romeonjuliet-esque love was the best thing ever. When I was 15 and he 30 we started ‘going out’ officially, which is when he began driving me over to his empty house for the afternoon so we could secretly ‘have sex’. I thought he was really cool and that I was so special and grown up because he had chosen me – he had a car, money, job, etc, while I was still at school. I honestly believed at the time that it was ‘love’ that made him jealous of boys my own age, co-opt all my time so I didn’t do anything except sneak away to be with him…and let’s not even get into the issues of sexual coercion. But I was too young to ‘outsmart’ a 30 year old predator and he took advantage of that. The ‘relationship’ ended when I went to college and broke up with him almost straightaway, aged 18. I’m 25 now, so have gained more perspective and life experience of the kind that would have protected me from this exploitative dipshit, but that teenagers by definition DO NOT HAVE.

Adults shouldn’t fuck kids. It’s that simple. It fucks the kids up, and no amount of claiming ‘parity of emotional maturity’ excuses the manipulation of teenagers by adults for adults’ sexual gratification.

I totally agree that there are necessary conversations to be had around age of consent laws, and the sliding scale people have been discussing above sounds like a good framework (some countries already have a version of this, as people have pointed out).

Damn. I was trying that trick where you make it link to a specific time, but I guess it doesn’t work when you embed the video.

It was supposed to be the part where the Doctor says, “No. No, don’t do that”.

Not really. I have empathy for people in extreme poverty, but I it is not always permanent, indeed often not permanent. At they very least there is hope.

Ami Angelwings

But like… who don’t you have sympathy for? That in general anti-oppression ppl (or general society) have sympathy for? xD

Also, if you volunteered at a men’s shelter, or a crisis hotline… who do you think you’d generally be helping?

@MRAL:

So the fact that, theoretically its possible to fix, means that your physical issues are worse? Lets switch gears then. You say there are surgeries to correct your height and help with your eye. These cost money and time, but both of those are theoretically obtainable. So, therefore, you also have hope for your physical issues, the same way someone in extreme poverty has hope. So why are you so special?
