Children of Dudes

Dude! I'm making a baby!

Ladies, your days are numbered! The sexy lady sexbots are only a few years off, which will free men of the onerous task of having sex with your cootie-ridden human bodies, and pretty soon you won’t be needed for anything at all, not even making babies. At least according to this comment by “JR” on Roissy’s blog, which was recently highlighted on the Pro-Male/Anti-Feminist Technology blog:

I think the obvious gender-wide frustration of women today can partly be explained by this lowered value of children/reproduction altogether. Women understand that their primary purpose will always be tied up with reproduction and not civilization-altering achievement; now that this purpose has been largely removed, what do they have left? … [M]en are as useful as ever, whereas women’s role as child-bearer is rapidly becoming unnecessary and in many cases even harmful.

Babies? We don’t need no stinkin babies!

And if after a few years of childless Children of Men-style dystopia we male humans decide that maybe it would be good if we, collectively, had a few kids, well, by then some clever dude will have invented an artificial womb. And then, ladies, you’re toast! (Which we dudes will be eating a lot of in the future, by the way, as actual cooking, not to mention sammich-making, is for bitches.) As Mr. Pro-Male/Anti-Feminist Technology explains:

Before … our current level of technology, women were in complete and total control of reproduction.Β  Women could get knocked up by one guy and claim another guy is the dad and there was no way of knowing what the truth was.Β  First came increased scientific knowledge about reproduction.Β  Before that the process of reproduction would have been considered to be almost magical given women room to exercise total control.Β  This lessened women’s control over reproduction.Β  In the 20th century came paternity testing so men could know without a doubt who a child’s father is.Β  Now women have no room to hide except that the law allows for paternity fraud.Β  Eventually we will have artificial wombs which will allow men to have children without women if they so choose.Β  The artificial womb represents control of reproduction being wrestled away from women.Β  This is a pretty direct progression of how women become less and less necessary in reproduction.

Of course, there’s that whole issue of actually raising the little buggers. But don’t worry, dudes are totally better at this, too!

[W]omen’s role as child bearer in many cases is becoming harmful.Β  …Β  All the pathologies caused by single mothers do not need to be repeated here.Β  Beyond single motherhood take a look at younger women in their 20s.Β  How many of them would you really trust to be mothers even if divorce wasn’t an issue?Β  Take a look at the current crop of teenage girls, and it’s clear they will be even worse for motherhood than women currently in their 20s.Β  Don’t forget all the misandry that these women carry which will have a negative impact on any sons you might have with them.Β  …Β  All things being equal the two parent family is probably better for raising children, but all things are not equal.Β  Because of divorce the two parent family can become single motherhood at the drop of a hat.Β  Single fatherhood from the beginning is better than that.Β  Even without divorce women are increasingly unqualified to be mothers.Β  … We are getting to a point where single fatherhood may be the superior system of raising children, especially when it comes to raising sons.

In your face, ladies! Moms suck!Β  DudeMoms rule!!!!

Of course, not all dudes want to be single fathers. As savethemales notes in the comments on Pro-Male/Anti-Feminist Technology,

Robogirls can take the place of mothers and assist in raising children for the biological dads who employed artificial wombs in the labs to incubate their babies. Personally, I never want kids and frankly, what reason is there? Children and women are a big liability. Actuarial escape velocity and transhumanism will be the answer and logical choice over procreation for many men.

I have no idea what he just said there, but I am totally 100% behind it. Except maybe for the part about Robogirls. I mean, how do we know for sure that Robogirls aren’t going to teach robomisandry to our dude-children?

Personally, I wouldn’t trust my artificial-womb-born dude-children to anyone but a RoboDudeMom.

Sweet. Most of the reason I don’t want kids is that whole labor/pregnancy part. Artificial wombs mean I could skip it! But those MRA scientists sure have their work cut out! Artificial uterine lining, placenta, umbilical cord, stem cells, and egg cells are gonna be pretty hard to manufacture. Not to mention the difficulties in perfecting umbilical nutrition transfer, and the constant source of warmth, or matching the nutritional value of human breast milk.

It’s also telling that they think motherhood is something predictable enough to program a robot for. Though, who knows, maybe by the time the can engineer artificial human reproductive systems and perfect cloning enough to make it all work, AI will be advanced enough that they can soothe a colicky infant, or deal with the innate cunning that is a human toddler.

Man, imagine going through all that to have a womanless kid, just to find out that it’s going to be a daughter.

Which, actually, raises a question: do these guys believe that a biological female raised entirely in accordance with MRA beliefs would still be evil? Do they think it’s possible that a daughter of dudes could be an acceptable human being, or does her inner womanness still doom her?

Of course, to answer that question, they’d have to answer the question “what do you even want women to be like?” and I’ve never heard an answer more coherent than “stop going around being all… womany!”

PosterformerlyknownasElizabeth

I know that having a child is the dumbest economic decision a woman can have. So these guys trying to take that away from us ladies just means we will have more money on our own.

Score!

But men will be obsolete faster then women since cloning is easier then replacing the placenta.

I doubt many women would have a problem with an artificial womb. These guys really are speaking from a place of the upper class. Poor people would still have sex and regular pregnancies. An artificial womb would also allow women that don’t want a man in their life to have a child without losing time on their job and they could also use the robomom as a nanny while they work. Couples could also use these things. Granted it would also make these things possible for MRA’s that hate women but even that makes it better for women because they will not have men hitting on them that are assholes that hate them. They should be satisfied with their robowife and child. I assume they would have only boy children and there is a way to do that already for invitro. I really don’t see a down side.

I like his observation that 20-year-old women are sort of immature. And teenagers are even worse! Wow, wonder why.

I am totally okay with this artificial uterus business. The biggest obstacle against me having kids is the pregnancy and birth part. I’ve thought of adoption, but I don’t think I could adopt unless it was an %100 open adoption. Growing my baby in a tank that I could visit every day would be awesome. Could I sprinkle fish flakes in there and give it a little fiberglass castle to hide in, too?

I’m stocking up on popcorn for the day these guys get their very first artificially grown baby. Who wants to bet that they’ll suddenly want girlfriends really fast?

I’m stocking up on popcorn for the vast expansion in women in politics, media, and business now that they don’t have to put their life on hold to raise kids.

Seriously, do these guys think that if women can’t breed we’ll just… sit at home and cry?

PosterformerlyknownasElizabeth

Maybe they just keep reading too much sci fi-both the Miles Vorkosigan and Honor Harrington series have artificial gestation. And according to David Weber, if that damn Eric Flint had not come up with the awesome Victor Cachet….Harrington’s bucket baby would have been a semi orphan.

Of course we have in contrast the overwhelming maturing of teenage and 20 something guys.

Sooooo… In order to avoid having to somehow coax any icky women to give up their eggs to be implanted into the robowombs, is this going to be some sort of Jurassic Parkian nightmare using eggs from other species (likely chimps instead of frogs in this case)?

Were this guys raised by wolves?

I suspect that the majority of young mra’s are still having their meals cooked and their laundry done by their utterly disposable mothers. They are just pissed off because mom occasionally comes into their jizzim ladened Kleenex den and asks them to clean it up, Dam their mothers for interrupting their second life’s awesomeness.

Old mra’s are a different story. I once followed the saga of a man getting divorced on SYG. His horrible ex-wife left him after he had done such a great thing for her, surprise her with a home he bought for them in the country. Worse his own parents told him this wonderful house was unsafe for his their grandchildren.

What a bitch… not appreciating a condemned dump he bought in the middle of nowhere without even telling her.

Don’t you know that once a woman hits 14 she’s at her full range of maturity? Women simply do not mature past this point which has been proven on the spearhead time and time again.

PosterformerlyknownasElizabeth

No Kave! That explains um…well what men think on the Spearhead.

I love the idea of artificial uteri. It would solve the whole abortion problem instantly. You don’t want me to have an abortion? Fine, here’s the fetus. Stick it in the tube til it’s viable, then YOU can take care of it.

I agree with Poster_Elizabeth, these guys would fight right in on Athos, Bujold’s fictional planet that’s populated only by men and boys, where all (male) babies are grown in vats and homosexuality is the default setting. I just recently read the book about it, Ethan of Athos, which details the adventures of Ethan, as he leaves Athos for the first time to replenish their senescent stock of female reproductive tissues.

Sally, at that point, there wouldn’t even be a debate! Most pregnancies in tubes would be 100% wanted, and even then, it isn’t about bodily autonomy! Win-win!

homosexuality is the default setting

I’m wondering if MRAs can be used as a new argument against the whole “homosexuality is a choice” crap. Because these guys hate us so much, if they could choose to be gay, why wouldn’t they?

Oh god, please don’t give them any ideas. Us gays don’t want them any more than you do.

“Protip for dudes: if you want relationships free of immature drama, try dating women older than 20!”

I don’t know, perhaps “If you want relationships free of immature drama, stop being immature” might work better. I keep seeing these guys throwing tantrums that would put a five year old to shame.

Technically, on Athos, homosexuality is the ONLY setting. There being precisely zero women on the planet. Well, I guess you can count asexuality as a possible setting.

I’m stuck on trying to wrap my mind around the existence of a Pro-Male/Anti-Feminist Technology Blog. What else do they talk about?

No, wait. I don’t want to know, do I?

@Holly I’ve actually wondered about that w/ some of the extreme MRAs : Kinda like how there’s some of the rly extreme radfems who have posted about how sure they are that their son will become a rapist and fretting about what to do when one day he rapes a woman and ready to turn him in -_-;;; It’s frightening to have your parent think of you like that Dx (i’m sure some ppl think ALL feminists alrdy feel like that too >_> and will again remind us “YOU DUNNO WHAT FEMINISM IS” XD )

and I’ve wondered if some of these guys who write the rly wtf stuff think the same thing “one day my daughter is going to accuse some guy of rape, and it’s going to break my heart that she’s become one of “them” but I’m going to be defending the poor guy from her accusation”? o_O or if the daughter divorced her husband, will they support the husband? or will they insist their daughter only date “betas” or “omegas” as a way of long term social change? o_o;;

I hope not :3 for both groups (incl rad fems) I hope that as their kid grows up, they TOO grow as parents and not see their kid as just part of the ideological gender war -_- I have faith in ppl, so whenever I read stuff like this and think “what happens if you have a daughter, or something like this happens to her?” I hope that prolly they would change their minds when reality conflicts w/ theory and suggests that theory is wrong πŸ™‚ Despite what that rad fem (and some comments) were saying, I still have hope she might change :] Esp for her child’s sake >_<;;
