Quote of the Day: “I say lynch her.”

Here’s a comment found today in the Reddit Men’s Rights subreddit, probably the most “moderate” MR forum I know of online.

From Reddit's Men's Rights subreddit

The comment is in response to the video below, which is camera-phone footage of a woman beating the shit out of a guy (who refuses, on principle, to fight back). The physical abuse starts about half way through the video, and escalates at the end. It’s frankly horrifying.

Obviously this woman should be in jail, and presumably this video would be enough to guarantee her conviction. (If the video is pulled, I have saved a copy.) That’s not the issue. The issue is someone suggesting on the MR subreddit that a woman – a black woman at that — should be quite literally lynched, and getting upvotes rather than massive downvotes for expressing this opinion.

It’s not as if the MR regulars have trouble downvoting comments they dislike; another comment in the discussion stating that “men should not hit women” is considered so outrageous that it is assumed to be the comment of a troll (which it indeed seems to be). Last I checked, it had 8 downvotes, and was the most-downvoted comment in the thread.

“Obviously this woman should be in jail, and presumably this video would be enough to guarantee her conviction.”

Silly manboobiez, you really think a woman would get convicted for beating a man?

Guarantee she never got anything for her crime. Justice is not served for men and boys.

I honestly wonder if someday you will be the victim, as women really do hate guys who bow down to gals like you do.

You think any feminist man-hater here cares about what that woman and her white knight did to that man?

Fat chance, brother.

Your iota of compassion probably disgust them.

Watch as they respond with, “oh that beating was terrible BUT OMG THE MENZ ARE EVIL”.

Amusing.

Hey manboobiez, you should check out this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/hedyy/yale_bans_iconic_fraternity_for_fratboy_stunt/

I’m sure you’ll love the response of the reddit men’s rightsers.

A woman commiting DV? It’s either a masterful photoshop forgery or a hoax. Even if it’s real he should just “man up.” It’s his fault anyway for using VAWA “controlling” behavior. In fact, he used her for sex, therefore he raped her. Theres no doubt she “feels” that way, and feelings equals reality. Off to the bighouse with him I say, it’s time for justice to be served.

I’ll take your word for it about the video. I can watch moderate violence in movies and television, and read about quite a bit more than than moderate violence in writing…but I simply can’t bring myself to watch real violence on a video. I hope she’s jailed. And I hope it’s because she’s an abusive fuckwit, not because she happens to be a black woman.

Men, here we come,

You think the word “lynch” was coincidental? Bullshit.

I tried watching, but the constant beeping got to me after a few minutes, I can’t stand high pitched noises. I’ll take your word for it, and that it’s bad.

I wonder what knucker thinks should happen to men who murder their wives for being unfaithful?

Nope. She should go to jail.

That was easy, see?

It’s easy because I actually don’t hate men, I just hate assholes.

I think MRAs are confused about that basic point. Probably because they think that being manly requires being an asshole.

Anyway, yeah. People who violently assault other people should be arrested and prosecuted and jailed. Gender doesn’t enter into it.

I can’t watch the video, but I sincerely hope that no one was taking it as a joke. But I’m sure some people laughed.

Remember that horrible Super Bowl ad in which a wife berated her husband on his food choices and then beat him for looking at another woman? Ugh. The fact that people find domestic violence against men to be funny is one of the bleaker aspect of popular culture today. It says a lot about contemporary gender roles.

@Sally

By saying something reasonable, you have just guaranteed that your comment will vanish down the MRA memory hole. Ten seconds after reading it, their confirmation bias will erase it from their memories, and it will be like you had never posted it.

Well one last post before I hit the hay, nuther long day tommorow.

If this wasn’t taped and the (haha) officers of peace showed up. You do know that under VAWA primary aggressor policy the larger (man) of the two would be arrested. Which of course adds nicely to the bad man DV stats. Wierd huh?

MenHWC, my dad recently intervened when he saw a young woman beating up an old man for no apparent reason. The woman went to jail.
This happenned in Australia, a more feminist place than the US.

This is terrible and she should certainly face criminal charges and certainly will if it’s brought to the attention of the authorities. The MRA’s brand of “justice” here – the lynching of a woman (murder) -isn’t a surprise given these would be some of the same people who held up as a “hero” a man who beat the hell out of a woman in a judge’s chamber because he didn’t want to pay child support for his children. They also called that “justice”. http://manboobz.com/2011/04/23/on-the-spearhead-demanding-child-support-is-a-provocation-and-beating-a-womans-face-in-is-justice/

What JohnnyPez said about the MRA memory hole explains a lot. I keep wondering why they’re always spouting the same old crap no matter how many times the crap is refuted, and it’s that: total loyalty to The Party.

Which is ironic when so many MRAs see themselves as Winston Smith.

As usual, NWO, you don’t have a fucking clue what the VAWA actually says. Does it hurt to be that willfully pig-ignorant?

I’m a progressive liberal feminist.
And I think she should absolutely go to jail.
Men shouldn’t hit women. But also? Women shouldn’t hit men.
PEOPLE SHOULDN’T HIT PEOPLE.
The guy imho would have been justified in hitting back in self defense. But it’s good that he didn’t, a much more clear cut case. I hope this is brought to the authorities and I hope that she is found guilty on the clear evidence.
But lynching is NEVER right. Everyone deserves their full right of legal recourse.

Recitation is a form of blocking unwanted thoughts and information. It is not just employed by the MRA’s that have made the Boobz list, but by any group of people with extreme dogma that runs counter to observable reality. I have run into these types many times before –though not MRAs, because I’ve only just found out about them — and it’s always the same. It’s a means of policing oneself and one’s group. It has nothing to do with what is real, and everything to do with protecting and reinforcing the beliefs that that group holds sacred.
