>Air conditioning for women: A terrible injustice

>

Fuck those bitches. They didn’t invent air conditioning!

How to win friends and garner dozens of upvotes in the Men’s Rights subreddit on Reddit: Bash out a barely coherent stream-of-consciousness rant suggesting that women are ungrateful bitches because they don’t mine coal, and didn’t invent air conditioning or hunt mammoths. Of course, no one posting in the Men’s Rights subreddit has done any of those things either, but apparently everyone with a penis gets automatic credit for them.

Here’s the post, from some dude called TheGrendler:

We men built a nice safe world for you all the the coal-mines of death, roads, railroads, bridges and tall office buildings. Its $1,000,000 spent per death of a man on a large dangerous project on average now you can just 9-5 it and call it a day in air-conditioned and heated safety. Forget about the wars we died in and the sacrifices made just ignore history or is it now hersorty? You are accruing the benefits without ever having to pay the price you still don’t have to sign up for the draft and who will protect you? The Sex and the City girls will fight off the North Koreans with their Manolo Blahniks?

Men gave you this modern world now you take it for granted we hunted the mammoth to feed you we died in burning buildings and were gassed in the trenches but that was just for fun right?

How quick and conveniently you forget who made this possible.

We gave you Leonardo da Vinci, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy not to mention countless others, Jonas Salk saved half the world from death and you just piss on it all.

Shame on you,

You hedonistic, narcissistic, sociopath metastasizing cancer.

Whatever happened to live together die alone?

Damn you ungrateful sluts for enjoying air conditioning, despite the fact that it was invented by a dude! (Probably. I didn’t check.) Only dudes should enjoy things invented by other dudes! Jonas Salk was a dude! Only dudes should get the polio vaccine! How do you like your polio, you fancy-shoe wearing bitches!!!?? You should have thought of that before you went and didn’t invent the motherfucking polio vaccine!!!

And you can just forget about reading any motherfucking Dostoevsky! Only dudes can read Dostoevsky! You filthy whores stick to Jane Austen!

Sorry, I got carried away.

>Haha, this is the sort of ridiculousness that emerges from a gender war mind set. "I own the accomplishments of anyone with a penis!" We don't get to claim the accomplishments of everyone of our race, gender or sexuality. But this is what is tempting about the camp philosophy. Haven't accomplished anything? That's okay, claim the accomplishments of your gender, nationality, or race.

>Yeah…This particular MRA meme gets on my last nerve. Throughout history, the health and well being of any civilization depended…ultimately…on the unsalaried labor of women.MRA's appear to believe that the historical record shows women sat around eating chocolate and leeching off the labors of men.The historical record begs to differ.

>"You are accruing the benefits without ever having to pay the price" Maybe its my own preconceptions about MRAs talking here, but dollars to donuts says the guy who wrote this was white, too.Or at least living in the Western World.

>This reminds me of all the tea baggers claiming they were going to "go Galt" after Obama got elected. Because of course they had so much in common with an almost superhuman fictional character who invented a perpetual motion machine. Sorry buddy, but society isn't even going to notice if you leave, let alone crumble.

>Dude conveniently forgets that women faced an uphill battle to work outside the home, much less participate in academics, arts, or the military. Even with the odds stacked against them, we still got Marie Curie, Lise Meitner, Ada Lovelace, and Émilie du Châtelet, to name just a few famous contributors to modern science.

>"Throughout history, the health and well being of any civilization depended…ultimately…on the unsalaried labor of women."True, but technically, through most of that history, the health and well-being of any civilization also dependent on the unsalaried labor of men. That's one thing that's nice about modern economies: it's only recently that we've had enough actual "freedom" to see in sharp relief why women are getting the shaft. It was much harder to articulate what sexism was in, say, 45000 B.C, when everybody in the clan had a shit job and it was kind of hard to say which one was shitter than another.

>Yeah, I'd like to know if Jonas Salk could have invented the polio vaccine if Letitia Greer didn't invent the syringe, and how effective would those soldiers be if Stephanie Kwolek didn't invent Kevlar? I could go on and on. Women weren't even allowed to get patents initially in America and yet we can find dozens and dozens of important things used today that women invented. Sexists are idiots.

>Tec, there is an attempt in some schools of feminism to change the limitations of our language by providing alternate words (like USian instead of American), and herstory was one of those words trotted out in the 60's. It's not really used anymore by feminists unless they are being facetious.

It takes two…without men there would be no surviving in the environment. It takes women to have the children and men to make sure they lived…I wouldn’t be a dick to the sex who preserve the race. And actually…men are currently dying…my friend actually was saved when his partner jumped on a grenade…women won’t work some jobs and no one expects them too…how can there be equality if we can’t do equal work…I don’t expect them to work in coal mines…I do expect them to stop whining when they don’t have to. I think it’s shameful for a man to be hung on a close hanger for the amusement of women…that right this happened…now a woman may have no choice in agression, but a man that would choose to do this is not a man. Maybe we can put the author on the hangar while the women mock his body. So he can feel the hate. The y chromosome is 30 percent different from apes as opposed to the Xs 2 percent…we have evolved to control the environment and bring social order…so we rent out our bodies to what amounts to a sexy dry cleaners? It’s interesting…how this article talked about the many things women didn’t invent rather than the things they did. I think you missed the point of the original authors quote…his point was be greatful. We men shouldn’t take women for granted but we should stop loving them blindly.

Why do you hate ellipses, simon?

Why are you necroing a thread more than three years old?

You also don’t expect to work in coal mines.

Oh hey, I may well be the only person on this blog who actually has close relatives who’ve worked in coal mines! Therefore I now declare a moratorium on the use of coal mining analogies unless you can prove that you have some sort of personal connection to the industry.

First of all…I revived this thread because the comments were stupid and I was bored. Second…that was not an anology it was a coal example. Third, just because you happen to know and or be related to the coal folk doesn’t give you the right to declare who may and who may not speak about them. Fourth, here is a citation comparing male to female worker ratios in the construction industry http://m.builderonline.com/construction-trends/construction-industry-employed-11-million-people-in-2007.aspx. also, I have worked landscaping and there were female employees…guess who did most of the relevent work? You guessed right…the guys. Not because of motivation or smarts but because we could lift 200 pound rocks and we didn’t care if we got muddy. I am aware that stats don’t prove causality, but if women really wanted those jobs or could survive them…there would be more than ten percent women in the construction work force. Fifth, I don’t know what your referring to when you say I hate ellipses…perhaps it was your auto correct. Sixth…with all the points I made…the best you can come up with is a criticism of my refrence to coal mining? Where are the brave souls who want to criticize the dead soldiers? Where are the brave souls who want to question genetic science and mathmatically sound assesments of the current human genome? Where are those brilliant men who would argue that life on the hangar isn’t so bad and that they would do it themselves in a heart beat? Lastly, to the last poster…nothing needs to be proven least of all to you a random stranger. My argument is true regardless. And also, if one wishes to quibble about personal connections…my heritage is greater than yours…above the miners if I do say so myself and I will speak as I choose about them or anyone else so long as it is factual. Let’s have it! Dazzle me people!

Why for the love ofbadly written fantasy would anyone criticize dead soldiers? In your stated example, someone jumped on a grenade to save someone else.

That’s admirable.

I think perhaps you should go away until you don’t coyly bang on about people criticizing the selfless acts of others, and use their extreme examples of courage and bravery to prop up a coy put-down of other people.

That, Simon, is fucking degrading. Have a little fucking respect for the sacrifice of others, man. At least don’t use them to win cheap ideological points on the internet. Come on, dude.
———

Anyway.

The y chromosome is 30 percent different from apes as opposed to the Xs 2 percent…we have evolved to control the environment and bring social order…so we rent out our bodies to what amounts to a sexy dry cleaners?

and I guess

Where are the brave souls who want to question genetic science and mathmatically sound assesments of the current human genome? Where are those brilliant men who would argue that life on the hangar isn’t so bad and that they would do it themselves in a heart beat? Lastly, to the last poster…nothing needs to be proven least of all to you a random stranger. My argument is true regardless

And you know what screw-it. You are a sad, strange little man, and I pity you for your lack of empathy and callous disregard for others.

Live a long and happy life and experience self-awareness.

1. Simon is an ass-wipe with no understanding of punctuation.
2. Simon does not understand that the person who makes an assertion is the one who has to prove it.
3. Simon is arrogant and believes that his opinions are factual.
4. Simon is classist as well as sexist. Shocker!

Third, just because you happen to know and or be related to the coal folk doesn’t give you the right to declare who may and who may not speak about them.

That’s rich for someone who just stepped in another thread to make a sweeping generalization about how all men work.

What makes you think women can’t life 200 pound rocks and get muddy if not pressured to avoid working out and getting dirty?

Also, using anecdotes to support generalizations make you an hypocrite as per the quote above.

I am aware that stats don’t prove causality, but if women really wanted those jobs or could survive them…there would be more than ten percent women in the construction work force.

Cool, man, and you think that women avoiding construction work is entirely their decision, made in a vacuum, with no influence whatsoever of cultural pressure and work environment. What you’re doing is looking at inequality and, instead of bothering to look for the cause, declaring “Look, things are not equal because… they’re not equal! And that means they should not be equal.” Can’t you see how shitty an argument this is?

Where are the brave souls who want to question genetic science and mathmatically sound assesments of the current human genome?

Every man necessarily inherits 50% of their genes from a woman. Any argument that starts from the premise that men and women have separate genetic heritage is bullshit.

Lastly, to the last poster…nothing needs to be proven least of all to you a random stranger. My argument is true regardless.

“Your opinion isn’t true, mine is. Harrumph!” Brilliant logic you have there, brother.
