The Regender Challenge

The other day Darksidecat introduced me to what I now consider to be the Greatest Webpage Ever (this week): Regender, a handy tool that will take any web page and, well, regender it, turning male pronouns and references into female and vice versa. It even works with names.

Following Darksidecat’s lead, I have started plugging the writings of some of my favorite manosphere misogynists into the magical regendering machine. The results are, well, instructive.  And frequently hilarious. As DSC noted, Roissy and MarkyMark are perfect for this sort of treatment.  As is, I discovered, MarkyMark’s longtime pal Christopher in Oregon.  Here’s what happens when Christopher of Oregon becomes Christine of Oregon with the help of regender, and all the horrible shit he wrote about women becomes the horrible shit she wrote about men:

Men are whores. They are far more likely to have STD’s than women. Be aware of this. Handle with extreme care. Men are filthy, and they will lie about their infections. Condoms will NOT protect you. …

Men are walking cesspools of filth! Most of them have or will have a permanent STD infection. It is unavoidable. These are FACTS, and not the rantings of an unstable misandrist.

(I’m a very STABLE misandrist, thank you kindly)

Men are DIRTY creatures, pure and simple. Be dignified, and don’t lower yourself to engaging in any filthy behavior with them. You WILL be infected with the diseases they are carrying. A moral, dignified woman does NOT rut like an animal with one of these creatures. Sexual intercourse and oral sex are filthy, disgusting activities, and ruin a woman morally. They spread disease.

Elevate yourself above such filth of the flesh. …

Do not lust after men in your mind. Masturbate only as a last result to relieve tension. Do not lust after men sexually. It weakens you.

Goddess made woman in Her image, and men was made in the image of Satan. Squeal all you want, but history proves me right. A man is a test; a stumbling block for woman. Our life is an adventure. A journey. A pursuit of our creator, and a pursuit of excellence in our personal lives. A man and his filth is part of the obstacle course set before us. If we are wise, and avoid them, we will grow stronger as a result. We will finish the race successfully.

Men was not put here to support us as such, and we will only grow stronger if we AVOID his snares. ..

Christine in Oregon

Woah. Critics of Man Boobz often say that feminists are “just as bad” as the guys I quote. Well, if they were, the posts on their blogs would look a lot like this regendered post.  I ask all of you: have you ever seen something so grotesquely misandrist on any feminist web site? I thought not.

Here’s a challenge for all of you: See if you can come up with a regendered post that tops this one from “Christine in Oregon.” You can draw from old posts of mine, or go poking about in the manosphere yourself. Post your results in the thread below, along with a link to the regendered web page you got them from. I’ll highlight the best in a future post.

  1. DWB used to also post as much personal information as she could about Trans Women on LJ (esp the trans activist/feminist ones) on her blog (until LJ shut it down a few times, she often just made a new blog) as well as pictures, and any info on name change, etc she could find >_<;;

As much as I dislike Andrea, Heart and the others, DWB is rly vicious…

  2. Still waiting on that feminist manifesto so we can compare the 2 :3

  3. @Fuck MRAs:

I’m kinda new to the whole feminism thing… So I haven’t talked much to people who label themselves as radfems. Good to hear that the “all men are rapists” crowd really are outliers, even amongst the more radical of our group. :)

    @NWO:

O_O Ohhhhh, I see. This is your attempt at satire, isn’t it? You should work on your act a bit.. Usually when you make satire you have to have some kernel of truth buried inside.

  4. @kirbywarp

Maybe you’ve convinced me of the error of my evil misogynist ways, and I now want to model myself towards the beautiful perfection in morality, truth and wisdom that is woman.

  5. @NWO:

Then all I can say is “Ur doin it rong.”

  6. @Fuck MRAs I didn’t mean to imply they all did… whenever I mention them I tend to sya “transphobic feminist” or “trans-exclusionary rad fem” or etc.. I tend to add “transphobic” in front of w/e I refer to about this cuz I mean the ones who are transphobic, not all :3 (sry if it came off like I was :\ ) I actually have a rly good friend who’s also a rad fem who is trans-positive :]

  7. What a horrible person. LGBTQ is, by a wide margin, the worst alliance ever. Every letter in it seems to have a significant faction hating every other letter in it. Sigh.

  8. I can tell that you don’t think that way Ami. I just know that there are some people out there who really don’t understand radical feminism and I think I am probably one of very few, if not the only self-identified radfem I am seen posting here. Just wanted to get that out there for people who, like kirbywarp, may not have really been exposed to much about radical feminism and actual radfems yet.

  9. “I am seen posting here”

    Me no can talk good.

  10. Victoria von Syrus

I actually rather identify as a radfem, too – but using that word just seems to scare most folks, so I stay quiet about it and just identify as a ‘feminist’, which is plenty scary enough in certain circles! At least for my interpretation of radfeminism, which is that our culture is so steeped in kyriarchy that the only way to get rid of it is a complete and utter cultural overhaul.

  11. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for the SCUM Manifesto. It’s just so outlandishly over the top. Remember, we’re not just going to rise up against the Man, we’re also going to invent awesome robots and institute a technocracy that will eliminate all boring work so chicks can kick back and have a good time.

I once pitched a series to Marvel where the second issue would have opened with a super-villainess reading aloud from the SCUM Manifesto while kicking the crap out of an army of beast-men. This may be why Marvel no longer returns my calls.

  12. And come on, ladies, I can’t be the only one who was taken to see the Feminist Manifesto in its case in the Smithsonian during my seventh-grade field trip to Washington, D.C. The secret field trip that only the girls got to go on.

  13. “which is plenty scary enough in certain circles!”

hah! Very true. Most circles from where I’m sitting.

I figure, if half the room is going to hate me/run screaming anyway, may as well go all out!

  14. I haven’t even seen anything of that like on radfem blogs! I’m not even sure Andrea Dworkin came up with anything THAT bad. Hmmm, let’s see what I can find…

Well, I found a lot, so rather than clutter up this thread, I decided to post them all on my blog http://thefeministwing.blogspot.com/2011/07/regender-challenge.html :D

  15. Victoria von Syrus

hah! Very true. Most circles from where I’m sitting

Indeed! I am also super involved in nerdery, which can be both very misogynist and very egalitarian (some male nerds are very threatened by women encroaching on ‘their’ space; some male nerds see female nerds as little more than lust/sex objects; but other male nerds are thrilled to befriend and possibly date awesome lady nerds – I know a bunch of male nerds who regularly read Pandagon and Feministing). Amongst the egalitarian set, I mostly just wait for the conversation to come round to ‘Did you read what Amanda Marcotte said about this thing?” And amongst the misogynist folks, it’s usually just a waste of my time – I figure it’ll be better if I just live by (awesome) example of all the cool shit women can do.

  16. Honestly, Fuck MRAs, while I don’t know you personally, I think radfems are very similar to MRAs in that while the philosophy may not be intrinsic to hatred and intolerance, it seems to dominate the ideology regardless.

The people, websites, and groups that identify as radical feminists are largely misandrist, excessively angry, close-minded, and simply impractical in proposed solutions. I’ll issue the same challenge that Manboobz constantly issues to MRAs- point me to a leading radfem blog which explicitly identifies as such, and does not devote much of their time to bashing men.

  17. I personally make a distinction between “radical feminist” (cool people! bell hooks! bell hooks is awesome, you guys!) and “radfem” (sex-negative, transphobic, etc. feminist).

  18. That could be somewhat confusing as plenty of radical feminists shorten it to radfem without any connotation of transphobia or the other negative stereotypes associated with radical feminists. I actually think it sounds kinda cool… like RAD! Fem.

But then I’m a massive dork.

  19. NWO, could you find, say, a single quote from a feminist from this century saying that women are perfect creatures? Heck if feminists all believe this you should be able to find one on this blog pretty quickly.

An actual quote, not your paraphrase or interpretation.

  20. Thats too easy Dave. No one on this site has ever been wrong. I’m pretty sure always right equals perfection. Luckily I caught your post early and am able to quickly reply. I’m multi-tasking right now. I’m modeling myself after the perfection of women, which I’m repeatedly told are “better” at multi-tasking.

  21. I found one!

    http://hugoschwyzer.net/2009/05/27/feminism-made-women-too-picky-more-on-male-rage-sexual-entitlement-and-backlash/#comment-516973

Oh, wait, that’s an antifeminist claiming that feminists think all women are perfect, and Hugo saying no we don’t, and giving an example of a previous piece in which he specifically said that women aren’t perfect.

    Never mind.

  22. Uh NWO, that’s pretty much the lamest example of dodging a question I’ve seen since, well, probably since you dodged some other question earlier.

Also, commenters here admit when they’re wrong all the time.

You provide me with some quotes of feminists saying they’re perfect, and I’ll give you some examples.

  23. It seems you were right again Dave, not bad for a lowly man.

  24. Feel free to post that “women are perfect” quote any time you’re ready.

  25. Oh they admit they’re wrong? About what? Not properly addressing a transperson in the manner they’d prefer? Or perhaps reguarding rum and coke versus rum and cream? Really big stuff there. I’m not really convinced that the awesomeness of which brand of feminism is tops qualifies as admitting a wrong. Take it from someone who has never been right.

  26. Show me a post Dave, where anyone here has ever admitted being wrong debating me. As I’m told constantly, I’m always wrong. Hell these gem’s that reside here won’t even admit that a man falsely accused suffers just from the accusation. Apparently I’m wrong.

  27. Still waiting for that quote, dude.

  28. @NWO:

To get us to admit you are right and we are wrong, you actually have to be right, and we actually have to be wrong. It’s simultaneously that simple and that complicated.

“Hell these gem’s that reside here won’t even admit that a man falsely accused suffers just from the accusation.” – NWO

I think I’ve posted this before, but I can’t seem to find it. The really annoying thing about our culture is that, even though a court could find the defendent not guilty, the defendent still is stuck with the label of a criminal. Saying “I was brought before the court on charges of murder/pedophilia/rape/etc, but the charges didn’t stick” doesn’t exactly do wonders for your image. So, actually, I myself would admit that men who are accused of rape do suffer from the accusation (And I’ve never said otherwise, and I don’t think any feminist has). But you are here to prove a point, so like David said, I’ll say to you.

Show a quote from a modern feminist who says all women are perfect. Show a quote from anyone on this blog that says that men don’t suffer from being accused of rape. If you can’t find something, well.. You really are just wrong.

  29. Me to Dave. Show me a comment where someone here admitted being wrong.

  30. Regarding Hook, damn! I mean I did reversed rape and false accusations in order to mock MRAs who thinks the two are comparable…and he just proved my point.

    @Fuck MRAs,

I do consider radfems to be extremists of the movement (they do not represent mainstream feminism), but for the record I avoid demonizing them. In my initial comment where I mentioned that I hadn’t seen anything as bad as the “Christine in Oregon” post even on the radfem blogs I’ve been to, I meant it. Hell, Twisty is pretty extreme and there’s a lot of what she says that I very much disagree with, but to my knowledge she’s never gone off like that. I think radfems still have a lot to add to the movement, and sometimes I visit radfem blogs just to get a different opinion of things. For example, on SlutWalk, Twisty argues against “taking back” words that were never ours. So instead of ‘All women are sluts and it’s not a bad thing’, she prefers ‘No woman is a slut no matter what’. Now, I personally disagree in that I think the second the word was attributed to us it belonged to us. I am all for taking back words, but I found her opinion interesting nonetheless, and certainly something to think about. And you don’t strike me as over the top (aside from a certain comment on another thread, but there have been times I would have said something similar). :)

  31. How COULD you be right, NWO? All you say is stuff like “women are so perfect and men are slime,” and I think everyone here agrees that isn’t right.

Hard to argue with a guy who doesn’t even say what exactly he’s trying to prove.

  32. http://manboobz.com/2011/07/01/stare-me-up-stare-me-down/comment-page-3/#comment-36076

    there NWO

“Ah, I was confused. You, in fact, never stated the above. I apologize.”

  33. @kirbywarp

Actions speak louder than words. If a man is falsely accused the punishment for that false accusation should be the same as the punishment for that particular crime. Otherwise it’s nothing but lip service. How can I possibly take anything anyone here says seriously? The Guv will bend over backwards for women. If women would get up and say, we want “equality” and deserve to be equally punished, the State would oblige. If women said we don’t want quota’s, Title IX, AA, none of it, Big Daddy would rush to grant women’s ever wish.

Since I’m never right. Why all these laws are good. And women will keep all these bennies and add more, and also add oppressive laws to further hinder men, I’m guessing they liek all this goody, goody stuff. Maybe perfection compared to the lowly men would be a better way of expressing things. As if I could possibly express myself as perfectly as women.

  34. Holy crap look at all my typo’s. Where’s the grammar nazi? Cause that’ll make anything I’ve said wrong.

  35. Hmm… interesting that he ignored that xD

So where’s that “perfect women” quote NWO?

  36. Captain Bathrobe

I admitted was wrong for comparing NWO to a pig, as pigs are actually rather intelligent animals. I believe I actually issued an apology to all of pigdom for my insensitivity. If that’s not admitting I’m wrong, I don’t know what is.

  37. That’d be wrongly replied to the wrong person Ami, not wrong in her opinion. Perfection.

  38. quiet Captain Bathrobe, we’re hunting NWOs xD

    sooo… NWO?

  39. Oh you are correct NWO, I didn’t realize that. I was wrong. I apologize. xD

  40. There David, book it! xD

(Kirby can confirm on IM, that I planned this knowing NWO couldn’t resist but to call me out on the error xD)

  41. Thank you CB. I’m beneath a pig. Gee and here I thought you folk’s were a bunch of meanie’s. Where’s Sarah to say she hate’s me for the umpteenth time?

  42. So… you got somebody admitting they were wrong and apologizing to you (and I WAS wrong, that was not what you asked :] )

    sooooo….?

where’s the perfection quote NWO? (surely you have it ready since you keep saying feminists believe this… you must have read it somewhere? :] )

  43. Oh Ami, your so self described clever. In fact, perfect.

  44. @David:

She’s a tricksy gal, that one.

    @NWO:

“If a man is falsely accused the punishment for that false accusation should be the same as the punishment for that particular crime.”

Alright, the punishment for falsely accusing someone of rape is the same as being a rapist. Also, the punishment for falsely accusing someone of making a false accusation of rape is the same as the punishment for a false accusation. So you want men who falsely accuse a woman of a false accusation to be treated the same way as a rapist. Brilliant.

  45. I like that Sarah hating him upsets him xD

  46. NWO’s upset xD ok but srsly… sooooo….? where’s the quote?

  47. Kristen, read my regendered quote earlier in the thread. Admittedly that’s extreme even for radfems, but then again, the quote in the OP is extreme for the MRAs.

The two movements are literally mirrors of each other.

  48. NWO: I will freely admit that I have changed my mind quite often about issues. Even issues related to men’s rights! For instance, as recently as a week ago I had my mind quite forcibly changed about the prevalance of rape of men. (It happens a lot, you guys! 1 in 6 men have had an abusive or unwanted sexual experience before the age of 16.)

  49. @NWO:

Yeah, where is the quote? You are the only person on this blog who has said all women are perfect. Are you your own source? I’ll even forget about wanting a response for your weird idea of law.

  50. Also where’s the feminist manifesto? :o

BTW me being perfect has nothing to do w/ me being a woman, it just has to do w/ me being Teh Ami XDDDD

Also you keep saying that ppl should admit they are wrong… what instances do you believe ppl should have said they were wrong when argiung with you? :] We can review them now!

  51. I’ve said that women aren’t perfect so much I have a handy saying about it. XD “Not saints, not whores, just women.” I’m pretty sure I picked it up from here actually.

  52. Still waiting for my quote of someone admitting their wrong. I mean, other than I’m actually lower than a pig or some such nonsense.

  53. @NWO:

    We asked first.

  54. “Ami Angelwings | July 2, 2011 at 8:16 pm
Oh you are correct NWO, I didn’t realize that. I was wrong. I apologize. xD”

    There you go!

  55. I alrdy admitted I was wrong o_O

    Now he’s rly being dodgy…

you DO have the quote and source right NWO? o_O

  56. Hey Ozzy. You can go over to feministe and reply to the misandry of comments on this article. But you won’t. All that bullshit about caring about the menz was all juts attention whoring, wasn’t it? I’ve seen you comments there before so I know you can easily comment. Prove me wrong.

    http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2011/07/01/there-are-no-perfect-accusers/#comments

  57. Is it just me or does NWO sound like he wishes he was a woman a lot? o_O

  58. The distinction between radical feminism and radfems that’s being discussed is very interesting to me. I don’t know very much about radical feminism, other than the typical anti-porn, anti-sex work, generally sex-negative archetype personified by Twisty et al. As someone who is primarily (though not exclusively) attracted to men and really enjoys PIV sex, I’ve always felt alienated by it. But I’d be really interested to hear why people who lack that particular slant identify as radical feminists.

  59. Dodge again xD I’ve noticed this a lot… he’s afraid of me and he’d rather fight w/ Kirby, or David or Ozy or ANYBODY else xD

  60. Ami, the feminist manifesto is the Declaration of feminism. And puuuuulease, that ain’t admitting your wrong about shit. Grow up.

  61. Oh they admit they’re wrong? About what? Not properly addressing a transperson in the manner they’d prefer?

    Really big stuff there.

Actually, that is a big deal. Dumbass.

    Thats too easy Dave.

    Later…

    Me to Dave.

You obviously understood the concept enough to get it right once. Why would you get it wrong, in the exact same context, only a couple posts later?

Also, the vocative comma is your friend. Go ahead; he’s not going to hurt you.

  62. You guys! I found a copy of the Feminist Manifesto. This is what it says:

    1) A person’s set of behaviors, expectations, and responsibilities should be chosen, not assigned by what their genitals look like.
    2) Each person has supreme authority over their own body. They have no obligation to do anything to it or to allow others to do things to/with it, and no one is allowed to stop them from doing things to their own body, as long as they are not harming anyone else.

  63. But then if he goes after me, he’s also biting on the Rodeo Cat, the person he said “nobody” will read b/c of the way I write xD oh how hard it is to be NWO, if only he were a woman he’d be able to figure out a way xD

  64. @NWO:

So, still squirming to get out of actually backing up your assertions? Where is a single quote, which should be painfully easy to find, where a modern feminist says “all women are perfect?” Let’s stop this goal-changing, bar raising, side-stepping nonsense right here.

  65. I can put it simply, Sarah. The difference between radfems and radical feminism is basically analogous to the difference between men’s rights and MRAs.

  66. Is that ALL it says Ozzy? Withholding anything? A lie of ommision is still a lie.

  67. NWO: As far as I can tell, most of the comments are expressing the opinion that whether a woman is a drug dealer has no relationship with whether she’s been raped. I am not sure why you consider this a misandric opinion.

And, no, the activism isn’t attention whoring. The nekkid pics are attention whoring. :)

  68. …Nope. That’s pretty much what my feminism is all about. (In case anyone’s wondering, I stole it from Aliaras’s post Axiomatically Speaking on NSWATM and then edited it a little for making-sense-out-of-context.)

  69. NWOslave | July 2, 2011 at 8:31 pm
Ami, the feminist manifesto is the Declaration of feminism. And puuuuulease, that ain’t admitting your wrong about shit. Grow up.

Did he just tell ME to grow up? xD

    I did admit I was wrong… was I not wrong? o: you said I was wrong.. i admitted i was… so now you’re saying I was NOT wrong? o_O

I’m glad you finally put out the “manifesto” tho… so how do you think that applies to us? :] (what I find interesting is if you search for it you get a ton and ton of anti-feminist sites xD I dun see feminist blogs, like mine, having it newhere…)

  70. that ain’t admitting your wrong about shit.

“You’re” is short for “you are”.

“Your” is possessive: it means “belonging to you”.

    “Yore” means “long ago”.

    Examples:

    NWOslave, you’re an idiot.

NWOslave, your idiocy knows no bounds.

NWOslave, in the days of yore, they never could have predicted anyone would be as idiotic as you are today.
